(Before I start, I'd like to say that I'm not exactly an expert on the following topic, if anything you read offend you please don't yell at me for it, I'm only human >< wink
Alright, This morning in advisory we were sharing weekends, this one girl was talking about how her sister is a 'wannabe emo' and the fact that she had an 'emo party' My teacher asks 'whats emo anyway?' So everyone starts yelling out 'people who cut themselves' 'people who wanna commit suicide' etc etc etc.... Ok, so I was basically sitting in my seat trying to resist the urge to punch them all out (I'm so violent... 4laugh ) I'm not an emo, I try to stay away from the whole labeling thing. I wear what I want and act like myself. I don't have a PROBLEM with these people, in fact, I have very high amount of respect for emos in general. Because it's not like they just wake up and go 'hey, you know what? today I'm going to be emo' They just "are" I guess, But even after all the crap they go through, they still have the courage to be themselves. Weather that's emo or not.... Which brings me to my next point. The fact that people HATE emos!! WHY THE HELL!? Don't you have anything better to do than sit around and make fun of them? Emo=emotional. I believe the statistics are something like 3 in 4 emos cut themselves. Which is REALLY dangerous, what I've heard is that they do it to take out anger, bleed out there emotions... that sort of thing. So when people make fun of them, it makes them even more of these negative emotions which makes (some of) them cut. I'd just like to say: NOT ALL PEOPLE WHO CALL THEMSELVES EMO CUT!! Why the hell do you people care so much what's going on in other peoples lives?! If they decide they want to cut, or wear eyeliner, or call themselves emo who the hell are you to judge them for it?! And the ******** stereotypes for emo kids!! I'm not even going to get on that.. I'll get too mad and prolly decline to punching infants... (not really) Ok, also why do people label other people?! If I want to wear jelly bracelets, wear my hair shaggy, maybe over one eye. That doesn't make me emo!! the fact that I wear black alot, paint my nails black ect doesn't make me goth, just because I get good grades in school and the fact that I'm smart doesn't make me a nerd!! I wear pink sometimes, and I've been told I say like excessively, DOESN'T MAKE ME PREP. People who want to call themselves these things, fall into those stereotypes, isn't your problem. And it just bothers me SO much that we judge people so often on apperence alone. Ugg.. theres so much going on in my head right now... any who, not all emo kids are suicidal, cutters, depressed, ect. Some of the nicest people I've met have been 'emo' And I really wish you would all open up your god damned eyes to see that that emo kid you and your friends poke fun at at school might actually be a good person on the inside. Don't be prejudice dumb asses (this is just a shortened version of my emo/stereotyping rant...)
