I have siblings, for those who don't know or haven't realized it yet... In fact, I'm the middle child of five, with two siblings in college and two in elementary school. (There's your fun fact for the day.)
I love my older brother and sister to death. (Maybe because I only get to see them a few times a year right now.) It's always great to see them, and they're really fun most of the time.
I wish I could say the same for my younger brother and sister. Every day, without fail, I feel the urge to attack them at least once. People always comment that they're really cute or sweet or something, and I always want to look at those people like they're crazy.
I can't seem to do anything right as a big sister, because my little brother and sister apparently grew up thinking that they rule over everything on this planet, and other people are there merely to serve them.
So, I've realized the trick to it. Several times. I discovered the truth of it today...again.
Here's what I've discovered about being a big sister: The only possible way for me to not hate my siblings with the fire of a thousand suns is for me to never interact with them. I think this is the reason I spend so much time in my room, at the opposite end of the house from them. Because if I ever try to do something that requires me to be in the same room as them for any extended amount of time, whatever exercise I'm trying to carry out will inevitably fail. Terribly.
Any positive words I say about my siblings are false unless I claim otherwise. They are ungrateful, spoiled, impatient little brats. There's a slight chance they may get better over time, perhaps some time before they reach college. But right now, I am not happy with the darling little angels.
