Can't believe she let's people push her around like that," Eric grumbled in the dark room of the hospital. He was letting the Polaroid's soak in solution, waiting for the images to appear. When they did, he sighed. "That boy better have gotten his a** kicked, for all the trouble it's putting me through." He hung them up on the hanging wire, and stepped into the bright hallway. Eric winced, his eyesight blurry for a few seconds before adjusting to the dramatic light change. It had been an hour and a half since he left Jade. He sighed, knowing she was still asleep, since no screams of anger or terror echoed through the halls. Sitting down on a chair, he ruffled his shaggy brown hair.
Eric was only twenty years old, and for a medical student already working in a hospital, he was doing pretty well for his age. He was doing well at work, until they got a call from Mrs. Samson. That was the very first time Eric saw Jade. Ever since then, He's had to tell himself that he would go to jail. That it was illegal, immoral, and just wrong, to fall for a girl so young. He felt like a *****, every time he saw her. Eric didn't want her in any other way, except for her to be his. To be able to hold her, run his fingers through her red hair. But no. That could never happen. But stillWhenever they get the call, or a code J-S He's happy, and depressed. Eric never wants to see her hurt, but when she is, it's the only time he gets to see her. 'I'm so selfish' He thought to himself, as he walked towards her room. "Check the dark room, there's evidence of abuse for Jade," He told a passing doctor, as he entered Jades room.
And there she was. Still asleep, like an angel. WellAn angel with a taste for suicide, that is. Her hair was spread out on the pillow, her pale complexion looking paler, but regaining some color. Her light freckles still stood out sharply amongst her skin tone, her pale lips curved into a natural pout. 'God she's beautiful' Eric thought, sitting down beside her. He gently brushed her hair out of her face, being careful. She seemed so fragile. Well duh. Of course she's fragile. Her wrists are being held together by rope. Jade twitched slightly, opening one of her green eyes half way. "Eric?" she murmured, softly. "Yes Jade, I'm here."
For the next few days, Eric did little but stay with Jade. Watched her sleep, entertained her, watched television with her, and ate with her, until she was allowed to go home. Wheeling her into the ambulance, she sat up front with him, her wrists in bandages. "I don't want to have to see you for a while, Jade. Do you understand? We'll take care of the jerk who did this to you. I promise," Eric told her softly. "You know I don't believe promises, Eric." 'This one promised he'd be different. This one promised he'd change. The other one said he'd never do it again. Then the time when I was promised that he'd always love me' A list of promises rant through her head. "Hey, snap out of it," Eric mumbled, pulling up into the driveway. "Be good." Eric told her firmly, hugging her tightly. Jade hugged him back, kissing his cheek. "No promises," She grinned, hopping out of the car. He watched her go into her house, a faint blush tinting his cheeks. "If you only knew what you did to me," He muttered, driving back to the hospital.
