Jade awoke with an oxygen mask over her nose, and a needle in her arm. Screaming loudly, she ripped off the mask, causing a nosebleed. "Eric, Lucy! Get this needle out!" she groaned, her jade eyes refusing to look at the sliver of gleaming metal. "s**t, she's awake!" Lucy gasped, jumping up from the chair outside the door. "No really?" Eric said sarcastically, running into her room. "Calm down Jade," "Shut up Eric and get this damn thing out of my arm!" Jade screeched. Lucy carefully held Jade's arm straight and still, as Eric took out the syringe attached to the bag of blood. 'She's growing immune to the sedativesthat one was supposed to have her sleeping for three more hours' Lucy thought to herself, dabbing Jade's arm with rubbing alcohol to disinfect it. Jade winced, letting Lucy do her job. She leaned against the pillow, sighing. "Why can't you guys ever let me die? Take the long route here, or something," She scowled. Eric ruffled her hair, sitting down beside her. "We could never do that, wouldn't want to lose our favorite little patient, would we?" Jade didn't answer; her eyes were fixed on the needle. 'Aichmophobia' Eric sighed and took the syringe and needle, tossing them into a toxic bag and into the trash. "Better?" He asked her, sitting back down. Jade nodded slightly, realizing she couldn't move her arms. "What the-" "Watch your language," Lucy cut her off. Jade frowned at her, and flicked her off. She could move her fingers, but not her wrists. "Lucy, why don't you wait outside," Eric asked, sighing, and emphasizing outside. Jade and Lucy never got along much, even from the very first attempt. Lucy thought that Jade was an evil satanic girl who loved to make her parents worry, and Jade thought that Lucy was a conniving b***h, to put it simply. Lucy's eyebrows furrowed, and she stood up, "I know when I'm not wanted," Lucy said sharply, looking down fiercely at Jade. "Apparently not, or you'd have nowhere on earth to go," Jade snickered, as Lucy left. Lucy let out an aggravated groan as she slammed the door shut, stalking off elsewhere. "You know, she hates it when you do stuff like that," Eric told Jade, smiling. "But that was pretty good." Jade smiled, and returned her attention to the binds around her arms. They permitted little movement, about four inches. "Why are these on me? I thought they were for crazy people," she scowled, trying to slip her wrists out. "Stop that," Eric scolded, keeping her wrists still. "These are the only thing keeping your arms and hands together in one piece, you really did a number on yourself this time. What happened?" He asked, sitting back in his chair. "Go wet a towel in the bathroom and wash off the light spot on my neck," Jade told him bitterly.

Eric sat back beside her with the cloth and rubbed her neck, watching as a bruise the shape of a handprint was uncovered. He drew a shaky breath, and went to the other side of her bed, washing off the other half of her neck. There was the rest of the handprint. Before he could ask, Jade told him. "Most recent ex boyfriend. Attempted rape. You can add it to your statistics." Eric sighed and grabbed his medical camera. "I have to document this, you know that, right?" Jade cracked a faint grin, "Yes officer, I know the drill," she droned. Eric let out a slight smile, zooming in with the camera and taking multiple pictures. By the time he finished, Jade's pupils were wide from the flash. "Are you trying to make me go blind?" She grumbled, "When can I go home?" she asked him. Eric looked at the clipboard hanging at the end of her bed, "Two days," he said slowly. Jade nodded, and yawned widely. "That was pleasant," Eric rolled his eyes, scoffing. "Shut up, I'm going to sleep. If I wake up with a needle in my arm, I know who's name to scream," she muttered, closing her eyes. Eric nodded, and walked out of the room quietly with the camera to have the pictures developed.
