The sirens wailed, the ambulance lights flashing as they pulled up to the familiar house. "It seems like we're here at least once a week," One of the medics said softly. Others nodded, expressions grim. The sirens echoed through the quiet neighborhood, the lights in the surrounding houses all on. They knew it had happened again. The Samson Girl was at it again. Two medics opened up the back of the ambulance and pulled out the stretcher, rolling it into the house. An officer was seen comforting the crying Mrs. Samson, and another talking to Mr. Samson. The one talking to the husband, Officer Core, motioned for the medics to go upstairs. "So it was in her bedroom," Eric Thompson, one of the medics, said softly to his partner. "Or the attic," his partner, Lucy Collins replied. They wheeled the stretcher up the newly carpeted stairs. "From the time she threw herself over the stairs, two weeks ago?" Lucy suggested. Eric nodded, "Most likely," he mumbled, "Much harder to get the stretcher up though." Walking into the bedroom first, Lucy sighed, "You were right," she told him. Jade Samson lay unconscious on her floor, a few smears of her blood on the oak wood floor and pearl white walls. Eric checked her neck for a pulse, and felt she still had a strong one. Sighing with relief, Lucy and Eric worked quickly, strapping her onto the stretcher and carrying her down the stairs. At the sight of her body, Mrs. Samson fled to her husbands' arms. Eric sighed, shaking his head. "Even with the amount of times this happens, it never gets any less depressing." Lucy nodded in agreement, as they rolled the girl out of the house and into the ambulance quickly. Locking the door shut as they climbed in, a police officer tapped the back of the truck, and the ambulance sped off towards Saint Mary's hospital.
"We've got a Code J-S, I repeat, J-S," Lucy said into the ambulance radio. "Confirmed. Distance from hospital and case of injury?" A voice asked back. "Less than five minutes, and two cuts from inner elbow to middle finger. Strong heartbeat is consistent, surprisingly little blood loss." Lucy answered, waiting for a reply. "Affirmative, doctors are readying for your arrival." The radio clicked off, and Lucy set it back on its case. Placing her head in her hands, she rubbed her temples and listened to the rhythmatic beeping of the heart monitor. Eric set his feet on the metal cradle of the stretcher, looking at the young teenager with an ache in his heart. 'Jade Samson…fifteen years old…thirty-six suicide attempts…Straight A's…seven ex boyfriends…three committed attempted rape…four committed attempted murder…suspended from school for being involved in a fight over six times…over eleven detentions…and over one hundred trips to this hospital…' This information ran through his mind, as it did every time Lucy and him had to retrieve the high school girl. Every time he added a number to the suicide attempts and trips to the hospital. Jade lay on the stretcher, her breathing deep, but shallow. Her face was paler than usual, her freckles stood out sharply. The red hair curtained half of her face, falling over to her shoulders when the ambulance stopped. Jumping to attention, Eric and Lucy unloaded the girl and wheeled her into the all too familiar hospital.
