That night, the city was attacked. Cannon fire could be heard from the bay.

"I know those guns!" Jack said as he bolted to the small window. "It's the Pearl..."

Sharkey's eyes grew wide. "I've heard stories!! She never leaves any surviv-- wait... if she doesn't leave survivors, where do the stories come fro--" She was cut off as the wall of her cell was blown apart by a cannon ball. She sat there for a moment, then quickly ran through the hole, saying, "My sympathies, friends. You've no manner of luck at all... but I'll make sure you get out. Don't worry." With that, she was gone.

"DAMN IT!" Vadri yelled. "WHY couldn't that shot have been a few feet THIS way?!"

Jack, meanwhile, quickly began to try and coax the dog with the cell keys over to him with a bone. "Come on, doggie... that's it... bit closer, bit closer... get over here, you filthy, slimy, mangy cad..."

A gunshot from above made the dog run off.

"No, no! I didn't mean it! I di- I didn't mean it!" Jack yelled after the dog. He looked up and saw two pirates come down, one loudly complaining that they weren't in the armory.

After a brief "conversation" about the deepest circles of Hell, Jack seemed to find it rather interesting that there was a curse-- almost as if he'd heard it, but never believed it. The two pirates left, throwing another glare at Jack. "That's very interesting..."

Vadri decided not to question this, knowing how strangely the captain's mind worked.

Meanwhile, Sharkey had run to the first place she thought of: the blacksmith's shop. She ran in, but found it empty. She cursed to herself. The one time she needed that good-for-nothing pretty-boy, he wasn't there.

"Oh well," she muttered, "it's safer here than out there..."
