I'll briefly go over it. Pictures will likely be posted tomorrow, as my father let someone borrow the memory card from the camera for a slideshow that will be presented tomorrow.
Thursday
Finished the summer school day, then went straight to the bus. Due to the nature of such an action, I did not partake of lunch, nor had I partook of any real meals for the previous 24 or so hours. I was basically running on snacks and sugar. So when we started for the place and towards the mountains, it was no wonder that I go sick. Many other people did, too, but still. Maybe it was because of the driver...
Anywho, we got there close to...I'm guessing 4:00 or so. So we walked to the camping area and prepared to grab our tents with our friends. See, because at scout camps, the tents are already set up with shabby cots and the like inside. Now, I actually liked this camp. The actually provided springed (sprung?) cots with semi-comfortable matresses. A giant improvement from some of the ones I've had to endure in the past, like the planks of petrified wood I slept on last year.
So with everything set up, we set off for dinner. Another good thing about this camp: good food. You can always tell if a camp is good if they have decent cots and food. This one had both, so it was obviously trying it's best to please.
So after dinner was finished, we then went to a campfire pit...area. There, the staff performed all sorts of skits and songs, some of which I have seen and heard before, some which were new. Fun and laughter was had by all. As was tiredness. Afterwards, we then split into our "families" that we were assigned the previous night, read some scriptures, then trodded off to bed.
Friday
A good start. Breakfast and a flag ceremony to start the day. Afterwards, we were lead to the previous night's fire-pit stage for instructions on solo-time. Basically we were given an hour or so of times to ourselves so we could recieve inspiration and think and be moved towards spiritual attitudes. I drew dot-art, a giant mesh of dots done in such a way pictures are formed through it.
Then it was lunch. Huzzah. Then we started to have fun.
We were basically split into groups according to families once more, then led to various activitied. First on my groups list was the climbing wall, which was close to three stories or so tall. Now this climbing wall not only had climbing available, but rappeling, too. So I chose rappeling.
Now when your at the base of a tall structure, it doesn't look high at all. However, from the other point of view, it's completely opposite. Especially when you're basically told to get in a kind of sitting position and sort of fall off the edge.
In all honesty, should rappeling ever happen to whoever reads this, the edge is the single most hardest part. Once your over, though, the rest comes natural. So I had fun doing that for a bit.
Then I had the option for horseback riding. I heard, from others who just came back from it, that it was very uncomfortable. Uncomfort is something I dislike, so I opted for swimming to cool me down. Mmm...swimming.
Then dinner. Then we did some more listening to people and such. Twas nice to get time to think.
Afterwards, though, we had a dance. Now everyone was happy, as dancing is something most everyone enjoys after fun activities that are hard. It's relaxing. Heck, I even did it for a change. So we were dancing and grooving and playing that funky music, white boy. I even got in a slow dance with a cute girl.
Dancing is a very tiring thing, though, especially when you do so for two hours. So we all slept pretty well.
Saturday (today)
We woke up and the un-Godly hour of 5:00. It's clinically proven that Jesus himself does not wake up until 6:30. Earliest. Why they had us wake up that early, I do not understand.
So we basically had more church related stuff happening, more speeches, more talks, more emotional feelings and such. This last until around 7:30, when we were told to get back to camp and pack up.
So we did, laughing while at it, some sleeping, others just moving while they were dead on the inside. I think I was a combo of the last two. Afterwards, breakfast of oatmeal, cereal, and cinnamon rolls was had. Good stuff.
Then we had, to our dismay, a service project. I was put in a group of "the strong young men" who's job was to move massive beams of wood from one pile to another. No problem, most of us thought, it'd be over in a matter of an hour. Little did we know, by the time we were halfway finished, we learned that we placed them in the wrong area.
stressed
Now, I don't care about service. I'll do it. But when it's just redundant...that's messed up. Especially manual labor of moving giant beams of wood. These things were huge I says. The largest took I think all 12 of us to carry, and even then we were stuggling. Eventually we finished, worn, tired, and splintered good.
We basically just relaxed afterwards until it came time to leave. No one got sick on the way home. I think most people were too tired to.
Overall, I had fun. Don't know if I'd do it again, but I had fun.
