rosaleendhu Gwyn Masamune rosaleendhu Gwyn Masamune PegasusHime AEBO: So Greg-bunny and I were having a bit of a debate. He was telling me his plan for the zombie apocalypse. He said he'd take the pure lemon extract that we happen to have a plethora of and load it into a super-soaker, then strap a lighter to it and make a flame-thrower out the stream. The extract is 89% alcohol and HIGHLY flammable (He set some on fire once... you know... for science). My theory is that the flame would travel up the stream and damage the nozzle on the super-soaker since it's only plastic. Greg-bunny doesn't think that would happen but admits that it's possible. So, do you guys think that the water gun would take damage and what do you think would keep it from melting and leaving you defenseless against the zombie horde? Also, doesn't this sound like something the Mythbusters would attempt? I think with some tinkering you could convert that into a fairly reliable makeshift flamethrower, but I don't think that it would be the most effective zombie slaying weapon. I still think that crossbows are pretty much the ideal zombie weapon (or a bow if you're good) I think that dragons are ideal zombie weapons. ...assuming the dragon likes the taste of zombie, anyway. A dragon eating zombies... that brings the distinct danger of dragon-zombies. And NO ONE wants that. No one would be around to care! and then I wouldn't have any more competition for the hot cocoa. xp
mcm Gwyn Masamune Kai LittleBlackSmith mcm PegasusHime plan for the zombie apocalypse. pure lemon extract super-soaker flame-thrower Flamethrowers in general work on this principle, so I'm not sure it would go too poorly, mechanically-wise. Other than that, no, it's not a great idea, fire doesn't kill zombies very quickly, and then you have FLAMING ZOMBIES! eek Yes, unless you can contain them, setting zombies on fire is a HORRIBLE idea. The internet told me that supersoaker flamethrowers might get you a Darwin Award. And plastic melts.I've actually never been in the fire is always bad against zombies camp... I think on an individual level its probably not the best idea, especially if you're just using small flame weapons like molotov cocktails or whatever. However, if you were to use something like napalm, military grade flamethrowers, or white phosphorous grenades, I think that fire could be exceptionally effective at dispatching zombies on a large scale. It really depends on what kind of zombies you're dealing with. If you look at a zombie as literally just a rotting corpse, intense flames could easily neutralize their mobility at the very least. In addition, if they're at an advanced enough stage of decomposition that they've begin building methane, fire will be even more effective. He blinded me with Science.
