Chapter 3
She closed her eyes like she trusted. I slowly slid my hand down her back and felt her shiver a little. Axe spray-on smell started drifting up. ********. That *****'s spray got on me. I pulled her closer to me hoping she didn't smell it. She pushed me away from her suddenly.
"What the hell are you doing?" Her faced showed that she had a lot more on her mind.
I threw confusion and anger on my face. "I was trynna get you to shut the hell up and chill. Excuse me for caring, damn."
She sneered and rolled her eyes. "I'm tired of of people touching me!"
I let the angry look go. "Wow... You really are a hard a** to people who are trynna help you, huh?"
"You didn't even try to defend me!"
"You don't know that."
"You didn't! I sat there and watched you grin."
"Your lack of distrust amuses me."
"Well obviously you didn't care that he was hurting me."
"It's not my ********' job to care, Tey. Nor is it my job to defend you. You aint my girl." She went quiet, this affected her in a way I wasn't expecting. This just means she's thinking about an 'us'.
She started playing with her and I heard that whistle. "Yeah... so... I got to go." The whistle came back louder. This meant they weren't done, this was business. "Go and find Tyi. Go home." I didn't give her a chance to reply, I turned around and broke. I started running but went into a walk when I hit a corner.
The clicks of Tey's heels were loud as day and I couldn't figure out why she thought I couldn't hear her following me. I just shrugged it off and hit the corner to handle whatever business that needed to be dealt with. If she saw something she didn't need to see, that was on her as long as her mouth was sealed.
In the alley, Show was sitting on the back steps of one of the buildings and Dro was breathing heavily over the victim. Blood on his fists and the vic's face had even more blood. Dro looked up when he heard me hit the corner.
"Ayo, this that ***** that lifted my watch from my car the other day."
I looked at Show but he had his headphones plugged in blasting some kind of hip-hop. "Is that right?" I looked at his face and tried to see if I could recognize him through the swelling and disfigurement. I mouth dropped in amazement as I recognized him. "Well damn. Looks like you ******** today, kid." I said directing it toward the vic.
He spit blood on the floor. "C'mon B. Don't do it like that. I got fam to take care of."
I nodded my head as if pondering it. "Don't do it like that, huh? I didn't recognize your face in the club, but now." I gave him a cold look. "I know you remember when you tried to s**t on me and my team out 36th street in Bad Newz, right? You up north niggas ain't stupid, but what ya'll did. Moronic." I gave him no chance to respond. I hit him twice in the face. "Dro, set him up. He not walking away today."
I could feel Tey's eyes on us as Dro set up the alley to leave the little to no clues. I took the black bandana out my back pocket and wrapped it around the handle of the Nine Dro handed me. I slipped it all in the opening of my pants by the small of my back as we started walking toward the alley exit.
"Wait, bruh." Dro called to me. "You gunna blast him?"
"Ofcourse. Gotta do this real quick."
Dro just shrugged and made toward the exit. Show got up and followed us. They went right without giving Tey a glance but they knew she was there. I walked out the alley behind them and Tey pulled me her way, covering my mouth like a mugger. I turned around sharply and stared at her.
"Didn't I tell you go home? This is no place for girls like you."
Her attitude popped up. "Well I ain't ya girl, so I have freewill."
I shrugged and leaned against the wall. "You got it. So, what's up?"
"I uhh..." She looked like she was searching for a reason.
I nodded my head in understanding. "I see what's going on. I think you like me."
She sucked her teeth and looked away. "I do not-"
I cut her off. "I mean it's O.K. if you do." I tilted my head and looked directly in her eyes. "Girls always fall for the bad boys."
"I don't like you Dae. And your not a bad boy."
"You don't have to lie."
"Honestly, you have the biggest ego."
"Thank you." I interrupted her."I'm flattered that you love me enough to observe that."
"I wasn't done. I don't like you. I actually hate you."
"Mhmm... That's not what I'm sensing."
"I don't!" She started balling her fists up.
"I disagree with that."
"Well then that's on you. I don't like you." She crossed her arms over her chest.
"Oh really now?" I grabbed her hand befire she could open her mouth and pulled her close. I brushed past her face and whispered into her ear. "So this isn't phasing you at all? Because I think you are the worst liar... Ever." I put emphasis on the last word. She shook her head but she looked shooken. So I decided to shake her more.
I reached in the small of my back and grabbed the tone from it's resting place. I snaked my other hand around her waist and pulled her tight. She eyed my piece and looked up to see me grinning hard. "Dae, what are you doing?" Her voice worried and her hands shaking.
She hid her face in face in my chest as if begging for something and I could fear my shirt wet up from a few tears. I couldn't understand that much so I ignored it. The weapon brushed against her thigh as I held it up to target the enemy on the ground.
"Dae, are you trying to prove a point?"
I cocked back the hammer, there was already one in the chamber.
"Dae don't!" She clenched my shirt up in her hands.
I pulled the trigger and my aim was true. I didn't even flinch from the thunder emitting from the barrel. I looked down to see her eyes still shut tight.
A sly smile laid on my face. "What's wrong?"
She shook her head. "You didn't shoot me."
I eyed her body. "Trust me, don't think it didn't cross my mind. But you look too good."
She thought for a moment and turned back to face the alley. The ***** laid there wit a bullet in his chest. She stared at him and started looking woozy.
My grin dropped from my face. "You alright? You looking kinda ghostly pale."
She started wobbling as if she lost her balance. "God, I hate the smell of blood." She drifted off.
"You shouldn't even be able to smell it from this distance." But I had a feeling my words never reached her as her legs gave way beneath her. I expertly caught her and quickly tucked the gun back in it's resting place.
