My fellow Flips,
Very recently, I've been very ashamed of my ethnicity. And it has nothing to do with the rest of you, it's just my own personal problem.
I'm not going to lie, I just don't see what's so great about the Philippines. A third-world country that's so small... and almost everyone seems to be at least part Filipino. It just goes to show, I've not yet seen one Filipino who grew up in the U.S., marry another Filipino. If we love the Philippines so much, and if we love being Filipino so much, why do you guys keep marrying white people? Or any other race for that matter?
It's confusing. And also, please... why do there need to be so many "Asian Pride" parades? We know you're proud. Cool story. We don't need seriously, like, five parades every week to say, "We love being Asian."
My reasons for not liking my ethnicity were not because of the entire "asian pride" things. I just felt like ranting there...
But honestly, I've been lying IRL about my ethnicity so much, that whenever I see people of said ethnicity, I grow envious. I even try to dress like them, and talk like them... But I then realize. I'm not them. I'm me. Filipino-Indonesian. I'm not Indian... and no matter how hard I try, I'll never be Indian.
Life sucks. But, it's not the end of the world.
I just feel sometimes, that being Indian would be better for me,
Being Filipino... I just feel... like I'm other "Asian pride" parade.
