Demtri heard the exchange between the females. He’d been on his way down the stairs when Kylie’s mother called out to her. There was no question of it. Demtri turned around and headed back to his room as fast as his feet could carry him. He figured the girl would have changed and done the chore already. What had she been doing all that time? How long did it take her to clean up get down stairs and set the table for dinner? Standing in the middle of the room he rolled his eyes when she knocked and opened the door. What would she have done if he was standing there in nothing but his briefs? She’d probably have a fit. He could only imagine what they did for fun up here in the sticks. Hell the only action she must get was watching the animals get it on. His father wouldn’t approve of what he called Demtri’s crude humor. The teen didn’t give two shits. If the old man sent him here to teach him a lesson he’d have to try better. This place wasn’t going to change him. If anything it was just going to piss him off that and the fact that he wasn’t getting any texts into his phone. What the hell was wrong with this place? Didn’t they have version out here?

Yeah….I heard you the first time you mentioned that. I figured you’d get the picture. I’m not the housemaid sort. Why don’t you just get it over with and call me when it’s done.” Demtri knew Kylie would have a problem with that. He was being a p***k and he knew it. Hell that was the Dupont way. The reality of the situation was that he’d never have to set a table. He’d never even have to do dishes if he didn’t want to. In her world that might be the reality; but he wasn’t her. This place was never going to be his reality no matter if his father felt he needed a punishment. What happened this summer was just that, only for the summer. There was no way in hell his dad would not let him attend college in the fall and they both knew it. Maybe he wanted to stir the pot up a bit that was all good and dandy. Come august Demtri fully expected a plane ticket back home to show up. Shoot he could be getting that ticket earlier than that.

The great thing about living in the city was that people knew him. They would ask questions. A kid that disappears is not the ‘thing’. It says something about the parent. You can sweep your kids issues under the table, you could rant and rave at them; but the one thing you didn’t do was disown them. His father, the socialite, knew that better than anyone. He’d be sending the ticket alright. And, when he did Demtri would be more than glad to flaunt this situation his old man’s face. If his father thought this was going to change things between them he’d been mistaken. This was just one more strike against the man as far as Demtri was concerned.

What’s the problem with cell phone service around here?” Demtri walked over to the small night table and grabbed his phone to see if any texts came in, “ you aren’t going to tell me I’m so far in the middle of nowhere I can’t even get signal. How the hell do you live without cell phone service?” Demtri didn’t expect her to answer of course. He was just baffled at the possibility of it all. No cell phone service. If someone was to make a horror for any from the city this would be the place. Cell phone service was essential to anyone- everyone! Not having it was like not having air. He couldn’t believe he was stuck here.

Earlier he’d tried to find some wireless service- what a joke! They only had dialup. That meant he’d have to actually plug his laptop into some phone cord and wait. He didn’t know how these people made it out here. This was worse than thing he could imagine. Probably the very reason his father sent him here. If there was no cell phone service and no internet he couldn’t keep in contact with his friends. He’d actually have to go outside and enjoy the day. Engage in physical activity outside of the gym and sex. How disgusting.
