Of course, I have learned this rationalism is not applicable in all situations(eg, fist fights with my brothers, disagreeing (LOUDLY) with mom eek ...); it has however, given me a nice amount of experience and has kept me entertained on numerous occasions. Being that experience is key to survival as well adaptation, I think that being willing to test waters and trying new things outside one’s norm is essential to the growth of the individual. This is especially true when one takes into account the variety of opportunities available to people who are willing to take the initiative and go for it. One will also find that it is through this very process of experience that allows people to discern what love, hate, or are uncertain about, and assess their strengths and weaknesses. Also, first impressions, in my opinion, shouldn’t be the one people go by alone. This is where the notation of “trying it twice” comes in. It’s like any experiment: One would need to test repeatedly and approach the problem at many different angles before making any rash judgments or assumptions. This process and the sense of clarity that comes with it is a vital component in the development of one’s goals.
While starting the organization, Anime SeekerS, from the ground-up was difficult as running it, we [the club and I] find that the overall experience from the teamwork, setting objectives and finding ways to reach them is well worth it. This year, it was agreed that the goal for 2010 is to raise our treasury to at least five hundred dollars by the end of the school year. We have already started to work at is goal, implementing a new due system and fundraisers used last year to supplement donations.
For our second objective we are intent on learning how to work different fundraisers so we further pull money and increase our publicity. Being that candy sales are direct and appealing we have found that work quite well in pulling in cash fast, our of new fundraiser is a bit of a wildcard being we have never worked a raffle before. It also requires a lot of advertising and money to be in making it a lot more risky than the former. We also have to set up other attractions to appeal to a wider range of people to ensure some sort of buzz about the organization. Of course, I know that even if it puts a dent in the budget we can get back up again - you have to spend money to make it anyway.
When the founders of this club and I started this organization, we agreed on one common goal. We, the AnimeSeekerS, want to leave a lasting impact community, and get rid of the prejudice some have about anime. I believe building a good reputation and earning respect (two things I value the most and try to guard) are important steps in accomplishing this feat. They were necessary in getting the club up and running in the first place, it will without doubt be important in continuing the club when I’m gone. The major things that must be done to ensure this is to have my senior members set a good example for the rest of the club, conducting themselves in a respectable manner. I believe creating a mission statement would help in this, as it highlights our main goals and objectives as a club. I also think that introducing and showing the work and thought that is put into anime and the way people display their fandom to others will allow them to see, the work and dedication behind it all. And if nothing else we will try! xd
The problem with today’s society is that choices and options are rushed and haphazard, only to realize that once they finish tripping over their own feet and exhausting themselves to get there that it isn’t what they thought it would be. There are just too many situations where people rush into commitments, leaving no room for compromise or real thought as to where things are going, where they could go or allowing themselves to try something new because “there is not enough time” or “I’m not good at it”. If people were to give themselves a chance to apply their weaknesses to their strengths, maybe even do a bit of research, and they may be surprised with the results of their effort. If nothing else you can say you tried and if all goes well, you can learn from it. One would never expect the effects of what seems completely unrelated in one life to have such a profound effect on another’s life so why not try something new when the opportunity is there. After all, if you it doesn’t kill and is legal what’s to stop one from switching up the conventional and experimenting a bit? Second time is the charm!
