Back to first looks instead of whole series.
Animation: 4.5/5
Again, something about the animation style, or maybe just the art style feels a bit old, like seven or eight years ago old. It isn't really a problem, it just gives it an odd feel that I'm not really sure about. The movements seem to be smooth enough, but not near as smooth as the insane animation style of Kannagi (I'll review that soon, I promise).
Story: 3/5
Two episodes in, and I'm still not entirely sure what the story is. The plot jumps around and is weird and makes it difficult to understand what is happening, what has happened, and what will happen. It seems that something caused the planet's surface to become unlivable, but there haven't even been vague mentions to what it is, though I assume it has something to do with the garbage monsters from level one, I think they could make anything unlivable. If the first sequence had some sort of voice over on it that explained just what had happened to the planet, it might have a more clear story, but apparently what happened to the planet isn't the story that I'm supposed to be interested in...or maybe it is, it's hard to tell.
It is because of this that I considered holding off on actually reviewing this until next week under the vain hope that it would make more sense if I left it alone until I had watched the third episode, but I'm afraid that even that would not be enough to save this now that I've watched the second and given it a day to sink in.
I think the key problem was that the first episode starts with some sort of crazy future alternate reality story line or something with characters that are never really explained or developed, and then suddenly it goes into a different story line with different characters who get developed quite a bit more, only to end with the story line from the start trying to link the two together somehow that didn't make sense to me. I just assumed that this craziness would continue in the second episode sort of like those weird plot jumps in Final Fantasy 8, when suddenly you weren't running around with Squall and palls and instead were running around in a jungle shooting people with guns, but only if instead of doing what FF8 did, you just didn't go into the back stories or motives for any of the characters who are in the second set.
If you can actually manage to ignore them (which is hard because they are actually pretty interesting) you can find a fair story. It seems our protagonist wanted to study general arts but has crazy magical kungfu so the military wants him to go into military school instead. He ends up caving to peer pressure, because that's what everyone should do when they are being told that they should change their course and as a result what they will be doing for the rest of their lives...wait, what? Immediately after that the story goes into crazy mode and starts looking very similar to full metal panic, where a bunch of military people run around and do crazy things, only unlike full metal panic it appears to only have a handful of funny characters, and the main characters aren't them.
Audio: 5/5
This is the one area in which this show seems to excel. Something about the fast paced trance dance crazy battle music works for me and makes me want to go find the OST simply so that I can put that on my MP3 player. Absolutely insane. Other than that nothing caught my attention in the way of background music or annoying sounds, and that is the way that things should be.
Opening: 4/5
Ultimately forgettable. It makes me think that there will be clones later or something like that...very Kurokami in the whole clones thing (only everyone here wears pants, lol.) It shows the crazy people from the crazy storyline though, so that gives me some hope for the future of the series.
Overall Score: 4/5 Stars
I think that may have been the lowest score that I've given anything, and it still isn't as low as I think this show really deserves...

I miss my old thingy, but this one might work, which is more than the old one could.

If your life had a face I'd punch it in the balls. Seriously.
