I really, really, should be studying History right now.
Ahh, now that I've gotten that out of the way... XD
I got a haircut. Finally. It's kinda like a long-ish flat-top, and it's supposed to be a "messy" style. I also bought a disposable camera, so I'm going to try and do that thing where they put all the pictures on a CD so that I can send photos/post them on here.
And...It seems just plain wrong to get so cheerful about such a small thing, but I was in HEB buying soda and water and the camera, and while I was checking out a girl from one of my classes recognized me, and said she liked the haircut. ^_^ She said she barely recognized me, because I don't have nearly as much hair anymore, but the fact is that she -did- recognize me.
And it's really weird, because I can't turn my head as fast without hurting it... I guess that my hair gave my head more inertia, so that it didn't build speed as fast. Or something. And without it, I get a sort of whiplash, and since I was always shaking my head to re-settle my hair, it's taking some getting used to.
Also, completely unrelated to all that, it's depressing how low the problem-solving and math skills are of some of today's college students... I think it was yesterday, I was standing in line for dinner, and the guy in front of me paid with a $20 bill, I guess he wasn't on the meal plan which is unusual, and the girl couldn't figure out how to give him change. So she got her manager. And then her manager went into the backroom for something. And all the time, in my mind, I'm going, "What the hell, you don't need a calculator to find the change for a $20! The meal only costs, what, $5.15? That means you owe him... 85 cents, and 14 dollars." Which, that's the way I calculate change; The change first, bills second. But that's 3 quarters, 1 dime, 1 $10, and 4 $1s. That's easy math. I did it in my head.
Eventually, she just let the guy go on, and he could collect his change later, and she scanned the rest of us.
Gah.
EDIT: As a side affect of procrastination-itis, I read through my entire archive, and realized that my journal has gotten pretty boring in the past year, so I'm going to do my best to come up with some pseudo-intellectual, lengthy posts over the next month. lol
