And where does chapter thirteen begin? At a karaoke club, natch! You knew it had to be something unlucky!
Riku sat next to Chaos at a table listening to Kairi sing on a stage. Kairi convinced Chaos to come to a karaoke dinner restaurant…well it was a karaoke soda bar called ‘Chain of Memories: Soda Club.’ (Chaos: Note-I got super frustrated with that game, Chain of Memories in this is for Ana cuz she beat it…).
Axel: Glad to know I could--in some small way--lash out against her. *lights cigarette, takes satisfied drag*
Kairi came down laughing after singing ‘Simple and Clean’ By Utada Hikaru. Chaos looked at her, knowing that she was supposed to go next.
Kairi: *facepalm*
Sora: Geez, this would be like making Princess Leia sing the Star Wars theme song.
Axel: ...
Sora: ...What?
Axel: NEVER MIND. *sips from cream soda*
“C’mon Chaos, this always cheered you up.” Kairi said. She smiled softly and Chaos sighed.
“When it was at your house I had no problem. But in front of all these people!” Chaos looked at the stage. “The only other time I sing is during a school performance.”
Sora: At which there were more people, correct?
Riku: Whom she would have to see again the next day, unlike strangers at a restaurant?
Axel: The saucy wench is playing hard-to-get, that's all.
“Please!” Kairi begged, “for Riku at least. He hasn’t heard you, ever.”
“Fine.” Chaos walked up on the stage to choose a song. “Give a request Kairi.”
Kairi: I request that you start learning to spell and punctuate, give Riku back his characterization, and get out of our story.
Riku: Thank you for that.
“Missing!” Kairi shouted.
Sora: "Missing?" Is that....*checks forward* Yep. Evanescence.
Kairi: The slandering fiend. *stews*
Riku had stayed silent through the time they were there. But he finally spoke up now.
“What’s the big deal with her singing?” he asked, not trying not to sound rude.
Sora: Sound ruder!
Riku: WHY THE HELL DO WE CARE IF THE SUE SINGS?!
Sora: There ya go!
Riku: *satisfied*
“Well she’s a soprano and a very talented one. Even though ‘Missing’ is sung in a low voice and she has to sing it higher than that, she does it well.” Kairi explained.
Axel: Oh man, if Demyx were here he'd be having an aneurysm.
Sora: Really?
Axel: Oh yes. Rocking in a corner muttering about scales and octaves and range. ...Let's go get him.
The entire lyrics to 'Missing' are then copy-pasted with a bit of "prose" in-between. T.O.S. violation much? Kairi mentions seeing Midnight around somewhere, and Chaos pretends not to know her. However, she does notice her eeeevol stepmother return home, and goes to face her. She promptly gets cut and beat up again.
“I-I don’t know what you’re talking about.” Chaos was refusing to let herself cry. Isabella waited to collect enough blood, enough to fill almost half the bottle. But at the rate Chaos’ blood flowed, it would be half full in a manner of minuets.
Sora: Wait...exactly how big are these bottles, here?[/color
Kairi: Why isn't the Sue anemic?
Axel: Because then she'd be like Hyatt, and that'd be too disturbingly hilarious for me to handle.
She grabbed her other arm and unwrapped the white bandages. She brought the knife to her skin and sliced Chaos’ skin with it. This time Chaos screamed, tears falling from her eyes. Her right wrist, the one that was just cut, hadn’t fully healed. This filled the bottle to the top. Isabella screwed the bronze top back onto the wide glass bottle and got up. She picked Chaos up by the hair and threw her against the staircase. Chaos yelped loudly as her back slammed onto the sharp edges. Isabella picked her up again by the hair, throwing her against a pillar holding up the second story.
Axel: NO WIRE COATHANGERS! NO WIRE COATHANGERS! EVER!
All: *shudder*
“I’ll find out later…” Isabella walked out of the house and back into her car. She drove off and Riku got up when the car was out of sight, walking into the open front door. He knelt beside Chaos, who was lying on her side on the smooth floor. She was silently weeping, her left hand grasping her right wrist. He pulled her on head on his lap and stroked her long hair giving some comfort.
Riku: CURE SPELL! POTION!
Kairi *reminds* Canon.
Riku: Hospital! Emergency room!
Kairi: *reminds* Idiot ficcer.
“I-it hurts…” She took sharp intakes of breath. She was slowly losing consciousness.
All: Hooray!
There's a random dream sequence wherein Chaos is seeing Midnight's memory...something about her lover leaving her because she's in love with somebody else or he is, or...what, you expect us to be paying attention by this point?!
Chaos woke up in Kairi’s room.
Kairi: HuhWHAT?
Axel: ALL RIGHT! *whistles*
Anvil: *yes, master!*
She was under the soft pink bed covers and her wrists were bandaged up. She looked up at Riku sitting next to her, stroking the side of her face, he smiled at her.
“Get some rest Chaos…” Kairi said walking in. She smiled weakly, she heard from Riku what happened. “It took a lot of bandages and ice packs just to stop the swelling…and to heal your wounds.”
Kairi: ...What?! No doctors?
Sora: Well, remembering that one nurse in the first couple of chapters...
Kairi: Good point.
“How did you get me here? Did you carry me?” Chaos asked. “Because we didn’t use your car to go to the ‘Chain of Memories: Soda Club’.”
“Um…actually I started carrying you here when someone helped us.” He turned around to look at a boy that looked about 17 or 18 with a very handsome face, leaning on the white wall. He had golden eyes and neat, not bowl cut though, thick golden hair that framed his face well. He wore a sleeveless black shirt and plain blue jeans, but somehow he seemed out of the ordinary. Chaos looked at him with her innocent icy blue eyes, not knowing who he was.
Sora: YOUR WORST NIGHTMARE.
Riku: Or just another Gary Stu. I'm sure there's at least five other slots still open.
“I am Alexander.” He said with a smooth and gentle voice.
Axel: "...And I will be your obnoxious Stu for the evening!"
Riku: Oh, that must be the...okay, not an actual canon character. *phew*
Axel: What?
Sora, Kairi and Riku: NEVER MIND.
His voice was as handsome as his face, but had a slight coldness to it.
“He was driving by as I was carrying you and offered to give us a ride to where we needed to go.” Riku explained. “You needed to be taken somewhere quickly, so I agreed.”
Riku: God DAMN, am I stupid.
Sora: What, getting into the car of someone you don't know, or trying to effectively save the Sue?
Riku: Both.
“You go to our school, don’t you?” Chaos asked. Her head spun wildly, but she ignored it.
Sora: Look out, she's Linda Blair!
Chapter thirteen ends with Alexander asking to speak to Chaos alone, and asks her not to let Midnight know that he's alive. Probably because it'll make it more dramatic in the future or something.
