I hate sports, I don't see how people can enjoy themselves as they seem to playing them, but I have a few theories. I don't hate sports because they're usually about as much fun as playing with an active beehive, but because of the other people. You probobly know what I mean, dumb, arrogant, overly competitive a$$^@*es that play just to 1-up everyone else to help fill their shriveled, rotting, and ever leaking balloon of self esteem.

I'm not sure why people enjoy throwing a ball (which may not be a ball) around so much, especially when they're just watching someone else do it. I think sports were originally developed for fun and to pass time, as more people enjoyed these games, having nothing better to do, more people played. Time passed, and some people wanted to be better than others. Some greedy people wanted to make money from these people and built empires on these time killers. NBA, NFL, NBBL, and several others make tons of money by paying people more than the average working man to play kid's games and sell useless trinkets to fans of the teams.

Side note; if you can get enough people that like something, it can become a sport, like dodgeball, cheerleading, or official cup stacking. Enough said there?

To get on these teams, you practically have to kill yourself training, practicing, and barely being human by the time you (if ever) get accepted. From what I gather, being an olympic competitor means having almost disturbing finesse in your field, which, even at the best a human can possibly perform, isn't as much fun as playing with a bucket of spiders and sparklers. People make their whole lives centered on becoming sports stars, to those who succeed, I ask, is it still a fun game you play with friends and no assistance from performance enhancing drugs?

For those that want to have their own lives, but still be related to the sport, you can watch the people that became obsessed with sports by becoming obsessed with sports yourself in a much less healthy way. (believe it or not) For some reason, people find it fun to watch other people compete in sports while getting drunk and swearing complete allegiance to one team, regardless of common sense. I'm not sure how anyone can like a team the way these people do, if their team loses, it's because the other team cheated, if they win, it's "undeniable proof" that they're the best. As time goes on, the teams change, new players arrive, old players retire, one day you may find yourself cheering for a team that sucks worse than it did when you were first making a fool of yourself in it's support.

From what I can tell, people like sports and certain teams so much because they're raised to. It begins with their parents, who had nothing better to do than sports besides drugs and war, raising their children to like the same things they do. I don't know how else one can become a heretic among their friends and family who so deeply love a team just because it was in their home state by pointing out their losing streak and saying "no, it's because they lost".

This generation has movies and video games, so some of us don't care at all for overpaid jocks throwing various objects at one another, but instead choose to act just like the sports fans only playing video games, giving a new defintion to the word sad. There are actually people that pride themselves in being able beat someone with hardly fair tactics and idiotic trash talk, whether they win or lose, there's idiotic trash talk, as though that's something only they can do. Now, this I understand less than the sports enthusiasm, because all they're really doing is pressing buttons, whereas the sports people are working, running, moving, sweating, and actually doing things and thus have some right to claim superiority, not that it means anything more than that.
I'll rant on gaming elitists later, but the biggest question I have here; Why do people enjoy playing a game of a sport? wouldn't, shouldn't the people that play madden be outside playing the game they apparently like?

Then again, maybe it's the fantasy element that makes pixels and sound effects so alluring, you can be a super man, a sports star, a mystical hero, a werewolf, a zombie slayer, a rockstar, almighty god, a space marine, a bloodthristy vampire, a psychotic greek super warrior, an ancient assassin, a jedi master, even a lego man. Not many sports allow you to fulfill such fantasies, video games allow one to al least pretend they're completely awesome, which sadly, some people forget is just an illusion.

BOTTOM LINE: It doesn't make sense to go nuts over something that was just meant to pass time, so F@^#%ING QUIT IT.
