Well, this is rather interesting. For those of you who remember the signature that I've had for the past few months, it was a scene from Code Geass. Now, I was previously unaware of this, but it seemed somewhere in the changes that Gaia made to their rules there came in a rule that said "Thou Shalt not have filesize large images in your signature" in a way that would also deny me the option of having more than one picture in my signature. Now I don't really care about being limited to just one picture, but really, the kick in the pants for the file size kind of bothers me.
My picture, before any text would have put my signature 23 648 bytes over limit. The reason why is because it is animated, and actually is at a good quality rather than optimized to only have 5 colors stuff like you sometimes see in signatures.
Now, I didn't mind being told that I was going to have to change my picture. It didn't upset me anywhere near as much as I thought it would. I mean, hey, I've had that picture up there long enough that I was thinking about changing it, and hey, when I put it up there the first time I thought to myself "Hmmm...is this too sketchy for Gaia?" (At which point I remembered that if you pick an RP from Barton town at random, you can probably find some form of 'fade out because this is where the sex scene is' thing, and those are usually more descriptive before fade out than my animation was). The reason this has me bothered was because at no point did I become aware of this 100,000 byte limit, until it was being used to take away my signature.
Now, I know there was a reason for this rule (even though I'm pretty sure now that I can't put animated images in my signature anymore unless they are solid blocks of color) but I'm just not sure that I really like it.
Well, in any case, be weary of the size limit. I wouldn't want you to have your signature taken away because you were reading the kb size, and not transferring it into bytes when you put it in your signature.

I miss my old thingy, but this one might work, which is more than the old one could.
