Through the copious animals living in the forest
And the many singers in the chorus,
Through the metronome of the rhythmic band
And the baby’s small, warm hand,
We thank you.
Under the rocks of ancient burial grounds
And from the ballet recital holding many gowns,
Under the roots of old, wise trees
And from sea to shining sea,
We thank you.
Above the rare rainbows of endless hues
And the proud flag’s red, white, and blue,
Above the green swaying tree tops
And the amusement parks’ corny gift shops,
We thank you.
Over dark alleyways’ graffiti
And the Congress, possibly signing a treaty,
Over college kids’ joyful graduations
And hotels’ prim accommodations,
We thank you.
In the business buildings buzzing with commotion
And the brilliant blues of a shining ocean,
In cozy, little houses quiet and still
And the hunter’s loyal dog dragging his kill,
We thank you.
With mothers, father, sisters, and brothers
And little girls’ and boys’ druthers,
With the U.S.A. together united
And the Statue of Liberty’s torch alighted,
We thank you.
