The Writings of Druki
This journal contains stuff that has happened to me either in Gaia or in RL.
Phone Home
One of rare luxuries of a missionary is a phone call home. This only happens four times on there mission (or, if they're unlucky, three times). The given dates are on both Mother's Days and both Christmas's.

Today my brother is getting his third call home in what's scheduled to be an hour, so we're anticipating it very much now. It could be sooner or later, as he's allowing his companion to call home first.

It's nice to hear his voice.

More later, either after the call or after work.

Edit: He needs rechargeable batteries, contact solution, and socks. emo

More later.

Edit #2: So now that I have some time to type this out..

He's doing very well but is still losing a lot of weight. We he called at Christmas, he said he was 169, which is already very skinny for someone 6'4". He said somewhere that yesterday he was around 160! Parents are worried about that, but that's probably because it's one of the few things they worried about from the start.

He actually asked about his dog, which is the first time he's done so since he's left, I believe.

He says my voiced has changed. For the better. talk2hand

Pretty sure this is it. I'll add more later if I remember.

It must be rough. Even people who move out on their own often are glad of the option to call home and keep in close contact with family members.

But it sounds like he won't be out there for too much longer--he's at least halfway through it, right?

And heh. I need socks too. Somehow I can only find three and a half pairs. Luckily it's been sandal weather lately, but it's looking to be rainy for a few days. whee

It's been a LONG time since I've heard anything about him, it must be awful for you guys not to have heard from him for so long.

Ray: He's been out for about 15 and a half months, meaning he has about 8 and a half months left before he comes home.

And he needs a lot of socks. Mission areas, as far as transportation goes, are usually either Walking, Biking, Driving, or a Walking/Public Transportation mix. His is Walking, so he goes through a lot of socks really fast.

Jesse: Well we hear from him weekly. It's just that we haven't heard his voice and actually talked to him since Christmas.

Well, what was meant was literally hearing from him... OH I just remembered, did you ever use that tape recorder I lent you?

To the entry: Seriously, how do you top this speaking gift wise? Yeah the thought
counts but c'mon.

Okay, there's no doubt I've watched way too much horriffic YouTube, but he might want to see a doctor about the weight thing. A couple people I knew picked up some stuff when they were in South America that resulted in weight loss. One of them was some kind of microbe that made the guy puke, so we can rule that out, but there are things that like to live in people and eat their food. gonk

Now that I'm finished being all "PANICPANIPANIC," but not really because it could also be the walking, it sounds like things are pretty awesome. Good that he's on the home stretch, or at least closer to it, since it's hard to be away from home even when you have a phone to use all the time.
