*mew?*
I keep meaning to make an entry here and changing my mind about what I want to write. So if this entry rambles a bit... I'll apologize in advance. I've a lot on my mind right now.
First, a little about Taiko. I first saw Taiko performed in 2007 at the Cherry Blossom Festival in San Francisco. I was fascinated. All my friends got IM's that night about how the Taiko floats were the best floats in the parade - just wow.
I realized after not too long, that one of my long-time friends also played Taiko. It took a bit longer before I realized she's really into this. I joined her Taiko group a few weeks ago now. It's fun, but picking it up is a bit slow-going for me.
I've played guitar and piano previously, but I didn't do either one for very long and haven't kept in practice. I've got a decent ear for rythm, I think, but my memory for sequences and my ability to quickly adapt when something changes or when I momentarily lose my place are both not good. Missing one note tends to throw me off by an entire two or three lines before I manage to pick it up again.
Interestingly enough, I apparently also don't have a very good memory for languages. 6 years of watching anime, mostly with subtitles, and the only Japanese I'd managed to pick up was Arigato. For Taiko class, I've learned an entire three phrases + the first ten numbers. I feel very out-classed. Most of my friends know more Japanese than I do. This is something I intend to remedy, but I think it'll take a while.
So, on the Anime front, I've watched more Loki Ragnarok recently. (Through my Blockbuster Online account.) I really like this series. I'm thinking I need to find the manga though; in the Anime, Loki is supposedly the 'God of evil'. Since he seems to be the most kind and considerate one around, that really doesn't make sense to me. I'm guessing the manga would explain more than the anime.
Also, I've wound my way torturously through Yumeria. (Bought this one on Amazon.) I finally skipped several episodes and just watched the last one. I found it ... amusing on some levels, but I really didn't like it much. I'll probably end up giving it to someone else now that I'm done with it.
Someone I know from Fanime has been loaning me the Cowboy Bebop DVD's. I'm really enjoying that. It's nice to get to know the characters better. I received the movie as a gift a couple of years ago, and that was previously all I'd seen of it. Hooray for friends with Anime! <3
Gaia.... stare
Well, on the Gaia front, I'll be selling off another letter sometime in the next week to get some of this month's items before the prices go up too high. I still refuse to spend any $$ on this site.
I'm having issues with site functionality right now. In the last few weeks, Gaia's been running really really slow for me. A page loads... just the upper header and such, and then there's a long pause before the rest of the page loads. Meanwhile, none of the links or anything on the portion that -has- loaded are usable. It doesn't seem to be improving, either. If anything, it's been getting worse.
It's to the point where I can't click on anything during that time between having made a post and when the page refreshes to show you the post. It takes so long to load the 'your post has been submitted' page that by the time it loads, it's already automatically forwarding me to my post.
=) I'll forego comment on anything else. Otherwise, this would just turn into a rant. >>;;
