lol here is a little taste of this new story I've been working on. It's my first love story and the first story in which the main character is a girl. I hope you enjoy!

Chapter 1: Raccoon's World

The usual commotion and chaos was summoned by the rings of the school bell. Tanugi Imaki pushed up her glasses and timidly put her books in her locker. She has dark red hair kept in a single, neat ponytail. She als wears a pair of huge, round glasses. She casually took one of her manga books and held it in her hand. She smiled at the young girl who walked next to her. It was none other than her classmate and best friend, Mizuko Umimura. "How was third period?" she asked, smiling back. "Like usual," Tanugi closed her locker and walked with Mizuko to the lunch room. Mizuko is one of those girls who cheer up everyone around them with a friendly conversation. She is only a little taller than Tanugi. She has bright blonde hair that she acquired fom her german mother. She keeps her hair short, like a boy's. Her face is bright and always in a cheerful smile. A young man came from another halway and walked in the same direction as the girls. He wears a black business suit and black leather shoes. His eyes fixed calmly ahead as if he doesnt notice the two girls. Mizuko instinctively gave him a friendly smile. He glanced at her and returned a shy smile. Tanugi looked at him, blushed and looked down. The two girls got their food and sat on a table along with their friends. The boy from the hallway tried to sit alone but a crowd of students got up and sat around him. "who is that guy?" Tanugi asked Mizuko. "His name is Yukimaru Yamamoto, everyone says he's a genius. He took over a huge company at the age of 10. He has the highest GPA in the school and he is in all the varsity sports. He's also the leader of a few clubs," Mizuko explained. "Basically, he's the most popular guy in school," One of the other girls said as she drank juice. Tanugi glanced at Yukimaru... he was calmly reading a book. Tanugi blushed and looked down. "Do you think he has a girlfriend?" Tanugi asked. The was silence at first... but it was soon drowned by laughter. "Many have tried to be Yukimaru's girlfriend, none succeeded," Said one girl. "He always says that he is 'waiting for someone'. I've never got what that meant," Said another girl as she ate. Tanugi sank down feeling so embarrased. Mizuko put her hand on Tanugi's shoulder and gave her a warm smile. "Why don'y you talk to him?" She said in a caring tone. Tanugi looked down on her suspenders. "I don't think a guy like him would even talk to a girl like me... I'm a nerd... I'm Tanugi the Tanuki (Racoon)," Mizuko pat Tanugi's head. "Don't say that, you're a great person... and a really good friend..." She grinned. "Thank you..." Tanugi smiled and gave her a quick hug. "Why don't you ask him to be your date at the dance?" Mizuko said as she drank juice. "Me and Him? At the DANCE?" Tanugi's heart beat fast. "Sure, why not!" Mizuko stood up and so did Tanugi. "Go ask him, I'll go with you!" Mizuko smiled. "I-I can't!" Tanugi shook her head. "You'll never know unless you ask!" Mizuko laughed and gently pushed Tanugi to Yukimaru's table. "Um..." Tanugi stood next to Yukimaru and looked away. He looked up from his book and looked at Tanugi. "May I help you?" He smiled at Tanugi. Her heart beat faster and faster. She stood speechless and blushing all over. "Hi, my name is Yukimaru Yamamoto, but you could call me Yuki. What's your name?" He asked politely. She gulped and gathered all her courage. "My name is Tanugi Imaki, can you be... my date at the dance?" She closed her eyes as she blurted it out. Yuki looked away and closed his book. "I'm sorry... I'm still waiting for someone..." Yuki looked serious. Tanugi looked away... she felt so humiliated. "Hey, get out of here raccoon girl!" Laughed one of the guys sitting with Yuki. "Go sit next to your geeky friends, four-eyes!" Laughed a girl. "Stop it!" Yuki growled to the others. Tears fell down Tanugi's face. "I'm sorry for asking..." Tanugi turned around and ran, wiping her tears. "Wait!" Yukimaru got up and ran after her. Tanugi sat under the stairs wiping her tears. She took a picture that she drew this morning. It was a picture of a boy with long black hair and a heart tattoo on the bottom of his left eye... the boy she saw in her dream. A tear dropped from her face and to the picture. "Why am I so stupid?" She wiped her tears. "I always hurt myself like this..." She said as she sat tightly. "Maybe it's because I'm stupid that dad left, maybe it's because of me that mom died..." She sobbed and put her head in her arms. "No one really likes me... no one cares..." She sat looking down. "Are you okay?" Said a familiar voice in front of her. She looked up and saw Yuki. Tanugi smiled and wiped her tears with her sleave. "I'm sorry, you don't have to worry about me... I'm a crybaby sometimes..." She gave a weak chuckle. Yuki looked away and looked at her. "I feel the same way sometimes... I've never had a mom and dad... I was from an orphanage," He said as he looked at her. "But I got over it... so what if I don't have parents? Sure I'm a bit different from the other kids but I wont get anywhere by just cying... the world will not stop because of me. I made myself work... I came from the botom and now I own a multibillion dollar corporation. The key is to alway move on!" He smiled and wiper Tanugi's tears. "Never give up!" He stood up and gave her a business card. "That's my number... see ya!" He smiled and tiredly walked away.
