So... The continuing story of the canoe. As if last night's dinner disaster wasn't enough. This morning I get up to find everyone going on about this. Apparently while I was asleep they left for their little canoe adventure and then my mom got a call from my dad. I guess she didn't hear her phone, she was in the bathroom or something. He left a message about the canoe turning upside down and getting stuck or something. She tried to call him back and he didn't answer. So she pretty much panicked, saying she might have to call 911 and stuff because they were stuck in the river and my dad wouldn't answer the phone. She kept going on and on about this, but Alex tried to assure her that the river wasn't deep and that there was no way anything major could have happened. My mom started complaining about how two grown men couldn't even figure out how to use a canoe. XD For a while, there were no updates on the story, as no one could get a hold of them. Well finally we find out that they're okay and that some people rescued them. XD They were lucky some other people came by on another boat, and rescued them, but apparently their canoe was stuck. They couldn't get it out and just had to leave it there. They came home all damp and my dad sat outside going through his pockets, taking out wet things, like his wallet and some first aid kit. All the bandaids inside it got wet, and all the stuff in his wallet got wet, and his watch got wet and broke. So now he has to get a new watch. I had to laugh at them though, there's no denying that this was a funny story. Later I went with Alex to what was supposed to be some party for the bridesmaids, even though I'm not a bridesmaid, but they didn't come... And I'm not real sure on what the reason was except maybe because the person's house where it was was like wayyyyy out in the country. Like... Alex was like, "I bet you've never seen this much corn in your life" and it was true. Just field after field of corn, the entire way almost. You couldn't even see the road if it made a turn because of all the corn! I don't know if I've even seen that much space with no buildings on it in my life, let alone all the corn that was on it instead. And I had been to Kentucky before and seen lots of corn, but I think we passed more corn on the way to this person's house then I ever have. And the house... Oh man. It was a nice house and all, but just strange. I couldn't believe they seriously had a clothes line... And actually used it. I wanted so bad to ask them if they even owned a dryer, and what they did if it rained, and if they had a washing machine for that matter, if they didn't use a dryer... But I didn't dare ask. I think it would have been rude. Their house was surrounded by corn too. And like... No backyard fence. Just farmland behind their house and corn, corn, corn. And they had one of those above ground pools. I thought it would have been an in ground pool like most people have. So that was interesting. I'd never been in a pool like that. We got out and went inside. And like I said, it was a nice house, nice and clean and all, but there were so many flies. I don't know what it is about farms, but people that live on them always have tons of flies everywhere, in their house and just all over. Even when it's just things like corn. I didn't see any cows or pigs or anything that would attract flies, but they were there anyway. They drive me nuts, and I could never live out in the country. One thing about my house is that I've never seen one fly in it. I've seen some other bugs, but never flies. But other than that, it was okay. We took turns going in the bathroom and putting our swimsuits on, then sat down to eat. The lady who's house it was and served all the food was Alex's fiancee's sister. His mom and niece were there too... If I have the people correct. I'm not really sure how everyone's related since I'm not real familiar with these people, but they're all nice. We had chicken and some cheetos and potato chips and stuff, and later some cupcakes. We went in the pool and it was freezing. Like I said, I'd never been in one of these pools. It was the same depth the whole way around, and it sort of reminded me of those plastic kiddie pools you have when you're little, round like that and not very deep, only a lot bigger. I was too cold to actually swim, so I tried to keep my hair from getting wet for the most part, and sat on a raft for a bit and then ended up standing in the water because it was actually warmer to do that. It was late in the day and cloudy out, and everyone was cold. After a while we got out and sat outside drying off and Alex talked about the wedding and stuff until we finally decided to leave, since none of the other people had come. Later, Alex gave me a gift. All the bridesmaids and me were getting gifts for helping with the wedding. She gave me a beach towel with purple and white stripes, some blue flip flops with flowers on them, and a green paper umbrella with yellow flowers on them. And then she ended up giving me more flip flops because she had too many. XD So I got some green ones and some pink ones with flowers on them. My mom ended up stealing the green ones later though. But since I had three pairs now I just let her. So I have the blue and pink ones, and I know things that will match them anyway.
