I awoke bathed in sunlight
In an everlasting field
That stretched beyond the horizon
I was being watched on every side
By yellow creatures
With a black eye
They stood tall and proud
Majestic
They did not wilt under the scorching sun
In my hair there was a pinwheel
It spun endlessly
Reflecting the light
Like a disco ball
It spun with the same dignity as the sunflowers
Even though there was no wind
And so I sat there thinking
If the sunflowers could stand
Against the inferno
And the pinwheel could spin
Against the void
Then why couldn't I do the same?
Why couldn't I be as strong as the sunflowers
And as determined as the pinwheel?
I was not restrained by my roots
And I did not need the wind to move
So then why have I done nothing
But sit in a field all day?
