A sea of blinding color swims across my vision,
The cold stab of death ripping through creation like a blade against the soft flesh of Earth.
I am surrounded by shards of what once was lively, but now lies limp and fragile at my feet.
Everything that sustained great beauty and promise is browned,
And broken,
And strewn across the ground, swept away by the ruthlessness of fate.
Though even among the battlefield of nature’s cruelest actions, the divine beauty that it sought to flourish never gleamed brighter.
Twas as if life had prepared me for something more fulfilling, that of which could only be obtained through the forfeit of mortality.
Through nature’s own mysterious ways, I had to live for Earth,
Die,
And be reborn and replenished.
I would be forever trapped in an unwinnable war,
A never ending cycle.
Tis the darkest of its seasons.
It sacrifices that which man cherishes above all else.
But in these inert times, I find that death tastes much sweeter than any harvest fruit,
That the bitter chill caressing my skin was bliss.
It was a craving I couldn’t shake, like a deep infatuation.
It was creeping closer now, my soul beseeching it to take me.
I reach out with a withering hand.
Kindly,
Graciously,
It grabbed a hold, absorbing me in its embrace.
