"Are you really living here?" the boy asked.
"I should hope so," Kurama replied, looking up from his flowers. "I bought the place."
The boy's mouth rounded in a silent "o".
"But..." he said, lowering his voice to a conspirational whisper. "...This house is haunted."
"Really?" Kurama asked dryly, stretching the word into a drawl as he stroked the leaves. "I knew the selling price was lower than it should be."
"Yeah! No one told you? There's ghosts! And aliens! And- And... demons that suck your brains out with a STRAW!"
Kurama's lips tugged upwards. "Not any that I've seen."
"No?" The boy blinked, looking almost dissapointed.
"Nope," Kurama said, bending down to water the roses. Tilting his head slightly, he seemed to ponder the notion for a moment. "...Unless you mean my best friend," continued casually, "He's pretty scary sometimes."
The boy's eyes grew wide. "Does he suck people's brains out with a STRAW?"
"Not with a straw, no," Kurama said laughingly.
"You're having me on!" the kid accused.
"Maybe," the redhead shrugged amicably.
"Aw man!" the boy whined, waving an arm widly. "That's not fair!"
Kurama laughed. "Come down before you fall down," he chided. "And I'll give you a tour if you want."
"Really?" the boy perked.
"Yeah, sure. As long as you don't mind the prospect of hanging out with a some demons."
"Okay!" the kid said excitedly, clamoring over the wall.
Kurama caught him before he landed in the rose bush.
"Yoroshiku!" the boy chirped once his feet were safely planted on the ground. "My name is Shindou Shuichi!"
"Pleasure you meet you, Shindou-kun," Kurama bowed. "My name is Minamoto Shuichi."
Shuichi blinked. "Hey, we have the same name!"
"Aa," the redhead grinned. "I suppose in that case, you may call me 'Kurama'."
(... It attracted my attention, ah the randomness...)
