GD used to be my home. I was never very noticeable there, but I definitely spent most of my time on Gaia lurking in that forum. While there's always been a considerable amount of stupidity floating about... it was nothing I couldn't tolerate.
Back a little over a year ago, I really wasn't able to understand why flaming was necessary, and I kind of felt that it was mean. Now, I can understand why there was so much flaming in the first place: people using more than two brain cells got frustrated. I don't really blame them.
God, do I mourn the death of good flaming in GD. What happened to all the good flamers that I came to fear as a newb?
Sure, there's the report button. It's not hard. But why should there be anything to report? Why can't we just strike fear into the hearts of morons, to stop them from posting garbage about how they love Johnny Depp or how they're wondering if [gender] likes [random social 'deviance'].
I miss the old days of GD. ):
