About Jean Grey
Yay! Go Jean! Jean Grey is one cool X-Man- er, woman. . .

About Jean Grey. . .

- Real Name: Well, I think I've covered this. But her code name is Marvel Girl/ Phoenix.

- Powers: Jean has telepathic and telekinetic powers. She can read minds, overpower minds, and move things with- you guessed it- her mind!

- Background: Not a lot is known about Jean Grey's childhood. However, what is known is that when she was a teenager Professor X found her and trained her in the use and control of her powers. She became a member of the original X-Men. Eventually, she became romantically involved with Scott Summers. However, when the original X-Men left, she left as well, leaving Scott behind.

Later, she was with the X-Men for a Christmas celebration when some of them were abducted by sentinels, and taken to an orbital platform in space. They were rescued by the X-Men that hadn't been captured, but were faced with the prospect of flying back to earth in the middle of the worst solar flare in recent history. It was Jean who saved the X-Men and flew them back to Earth, but at a great cost. She died. At least, her body did. Her mind however, spurred on by her love of Scott Summers, refused to die, and for an instant she was an entity of pure thought. Then she was reformed as Phoenix, an extremely powerful telekinetic and telepath.

After a misadventure under a volcano, Jean believed the X-Men, including Scott to be dead. (They weren't.) She met Jason Wyngarde, a villain intent on shaping Jean to his own purposes. Jean learned that Scott was alive, and he learned she was, but tragically to late. In one of the best, and saddest, storylines in Marvel history, Jean turned into Dark Phoenix, her dark side unleashed by Jason Wyngarde's witless meddling. She ate a star, and killed millions, before reverting to Jean Grey. The X-Men fought the imperial guard for her life, but in the end, Jean killed herself rather then revert to Dark Phoenix. *

Where She is Now: Some storylines have brought Jean Grey back to life, and even married her off to life. However, I think this ruins the beautiful storyline. In my mind, Jean Grey is dead. And that's it.

* This is a condensed version of the Dark Phoenix storyline, and in no way does it justice. It does not include her stretch as the Black Queen, nor does it tell about the X-Men's and her's inner struggle over her transformation. It is a brilliant storyline, and EVERYBODY should read it.
