Heh.... This is a long one...
Chase: There. Done.
He cut the gause around the girl's finger and placed a small strip of tape over the crack.
Jessina: Can i go, now?
Chase: Please.
He scoffed and crossed his arms as she stood up and made her way to the opening of the tent.
Eric: Wait, aren't you going to introduce me?
Another man came in through the back entrance of the tent. He was tall, though not as tall as Chase. He had grey eyes, black hair, and a peculiar grin.
Chase: Oh go away, Eric. She was just leaving.
He glared at the girl, as if begging her to leave already.
Eric: Nonsense. If she was here, then she was here for a reason. Is it a crime to be able to know her name?
Chase: Ugh. We had a little fight. I accidentally cut her finger. I gave her a bandage. Now she's leaving.
Eric: I see. So she was weak.
Jessina: WEAK!?!?!
Out came the daggers.
Jessina: Wanna try that one again, pal?
Chase: Not again....
He slapped his hand onto his forehead.
Eric: Hm. Did she put up a good fight, Chase?
Chase: Heh. I almost had to actually try.
Eric: Would you consider her strong?
Chase: Uh....I guess....?
Eric: Well, would you consider her worthy of our cause?
Jessina: Um... What cause?
Chase: Well, we used to work with a bunch of guys on the other side of town. But now for some reason, Eric and his dumb broad Clara....
Eric cleared his throat to signal that he was taking over.
Eric: Me and my beautiful girlfriend Clara have decided that we need to break away from the little group of merchants and go off and do our own thing. Problem is, we have no money.
Chase: Doesn't give you the right to steal it from our friends...
He grumbled coldly, wanting to keep the comment to himself, but was unsuccessful.
Eric: How long have you wanted to become a knight, Chase?
Chase: Since I was five.
Eric: But what's keeping you from not being able to come one?
Chase: I can't afford the training.
Eric: Exactly. But if we raid the other camp, then you'll have that money. Then you can be doing everything you've been wanting to in your dorky little knight dreams.
Chase hung his head shamefully.
Eric: So, miss, would you like to join us? We could use everyone we can get...
Jessina thought to herself.
Jessina: (Well, let's see. I'd get money, I'd be helping out a cause. Maybe Lissabelle's in hiding over there on the other side of the marketplace. It'd be a good chance to look around...) Sure, why not?
Eric: Good. Heh, we're pretty much unbeatable, now. The five of us really only have to take on Cal. He's the only one over there who actually can tell the blade from the handle of a sword.
Chase rolled his eyes.
Chase: Why does SHE have to tag along? Couldn't we find ANYONE else?
Jessina: Just know this, tough guy. I don't like you. You don't like me. Just because we're travelling together does NOT make us friends. We've made that quite clear.
Chase: Agreed.
Eric: Well, what is your name, Miss?
Jessina: Jennifer Bennette, but call me Jenny.
Unlike her sister, Jessina had her alias ready as soon as she hopped out from Aidan's carriage.
Cal: Lissy....
The boy stood by the slumbering princess's bedside, whispering to her softly.
Cal: Rise and shine.
He smiled and placed his hand on her shoulder, nudging her softly as she began to stir.
Cal: Mornin, bright eyes.
She opened her eyes and smiled back at him quietly.
Lissabelle: Good morning.
They looked at each other sweetly for a moment, then he quickly removed his hand from her shoulder and she sat up quickly as he did so, both of them awkwardly.
Lissabelle: So....um.... Am I going to be selling anything today?
Cal: Nope. Actually, we're moving on to our next stop. Saraid. It's beautiful there... It's a little town built on a river, and every time we stop there, we always get a camp spot right next to the water. It's a really pretty view.
Lissabelle: I see.... How far away is it?
Cal: Not very, actually. It'll only take us a couple hours to get there. We can actually start our sales before sunset if we want to.
Lissabelle: Cool!
Cal: Well, I got you up this early so maybe you could help me hitch up the carts to the horses? It's best to get them ready now so we can high-tail it out of here as soon as everyone's up. I could really use a hand, so would you help me?
Lissabelle: I'd love to.
Cal: Great.
She changed out of Tanya's old nightgown and into her pink dress then met him outside to help. It was a simple task for her. All she had to do was stand there by the horse and keep him/her calm while Cal prepared the harness and hitched the cart to the animal.
Cal: Heh, you're good at this.
He chuckled as he finished hitching up the fourth cart, Katie and Chloe's perfume cart, to a chestnut mare.
Cal: Everytime I ask Anthony to help, the horse always gets spooked and someone usualloy gets hurt...
Lissabelle: That's not good...
Cal: Eh, it's not bad. He's usually the one that gets hurt.
He laughed again.
Cal: Hehe.... Oh, Lissy, I forgot my sword back in my tent. Would you mind going to get it for me? I just always want it beside it... It's a comfort thing...
Lissabelle: Oh, no problem. I'll be right back.
Cal: Thanks.
He continued to hitch up the horses when a group of men on horseback came riding over, all dressed in red and black, carrying their blades and not looking very cheery.
Cal: Can I help you gentlemen?
Aderas: Have you seen this young woman?
The black-haired leader of the group held up a picture of a lovely, hazel-eyed woman with fair skin, a cascade of burgundy curls, and a pair of strawberry-red lips. It was Lissy. He was positive.
Cal: Never seen her in my life.
Aderas: Hmph.
He said not a word more, but rode off, his five goons following close behind.
Lissabelle: Who were you talking to?
She emerged from the tent, carrying her companion's precious blade.
Cal: Oh, it was just someone asking if we were open or not.
Lissabelle: i see. That's too bad. If we were open, that would have meant more money, right?
She beamed, causing Cal to smile back with her, still unsure about this girl.
Cal: (It doesn't prove that she's the princess... For all I know, she could be a wanted criminal!)
He looked into those glittering hazel eyes, seeing not a drop of tainted impurities. This girl was one-hundred percent innocent.
Cal: (It still doesn't prove it. Besides... I remember seeing her and her sister that day at the lake. The princess has a twin.)
