Clara: Nope. We're going to meet them in their next stop, Saraid, and get them there. They've already left.
The fourth member of the renegade salesmen was a short, skinny little girl with a wave of blonde hair and a shrill, squeaky voice that could break a vase.
Jessina: Oh... Alright... (Well, let's hope Lissy's in Saraid, cuz it looks like the marketplace isn't an option anymore....)
Eric: Everything packed?
He walked over with a smile after throwing a suitcase into the cart.
Chase: Yup. We're ready to head out.
Eric: Excellent. Ready, babe?
He walked over to the blonde and wrapped his arms around her waist, staring fixedly into her soft blue eyes.
Clara: You bet...
She whispered seductively as he pulled her closer and into a make-out session.
Jessina: Bleh....
Chase: Yech....
Brad: Get a room!
Eric: How bout you go get some alcohol, your majesty?
He finally detatched his lips from the woman to make fun of his drunken friend.
Brad: For your information, I plan to.
With that, they were off.
Lissabelle sat in the cart driven by Cal, along with Janette, who was shuffling a deck of cards, then arranging them in different ways each time.
Lissabelle: Janette.... What are you doing?
Janette: Fortune-telling....
Lissabelle: Oh, cool! Can you do me?
Janette: I suppose so.... But just ask Cal, I'm never wrong.
Cal: She's not.
He called from the front of the driver's seat of the cart.
Cal: The day before you came, my fortune was....um.... What was it again?
Janette: Your three cards were The Beauty, The Guardian, and the Joy.
Cal: Sounds about right. I found a beauty, I protected her, and now I'm happy that she's hanging around.
He turned around to smile at the girl, who smiled back cheerfully.
Janette: Well, here goes.
She shuffled the cards then held them in front of the princess.
Janette: Pick three.
Lissabelle carefully chose three of the cards and handed them back to the girl.
Janette: Now pick the order.
She pointed to the center card first, then the left, then the right.
Janette: Okay, let's see... your first card...
She flipped it over, revealing a picture of a small girl standing behind a strong, tall man with a sword.
Janette: ...The Protected. Second card...
She flipped over the next, revealing a picture of a man and a woman holding each other in their arms, both smiling sweetly into each others eyes.
Janette: The Lovers. And the last...
The last card flipped over revealed a girl sitting alone with tears streaming down her face.
Janette: The Helpless.
Lissabelle: H-helpless?
Janette: Hm.... That's not good... You never want the third card to be the worst...
She winced at the thought
Lissabelle: Helpless....?
Cal and the gang were at their spot in Saraid by late afternoon, giving them plenty of time to set up their carts and begin their sales. Katie and Chloe were busy spraying perfume samples to any curious customers walking by, and Juliette was proudly displaying the expensive jewelry made from Sapphire Lake's famous sapphires. Michael was busy with some big brawny men in search of "the best armor from the north" while his love, Tanya, was selling fine garments to a pair of young ladies from the Eastern Mountains. Janette was selling fortunes to those curious of their futures, and Anthony stood behind Michael, saying that he'd help, but in actuality only drove the older man crazy.
Cal had taken a break from his weapons sales and Lissabelle from helping Juliette so that they could walk down by the river.
Lissabelle: Wow.... You're right, Cal.... It really is beautiful.
Cal: Yeah, well, it's not as pretty as....
Lissabelle: Sapphire Lake on a full moon night?
Cal: Stole the words right out of my mouth.
He chuckled softly at the thought that he was going to say "You," but she was right, Sapphire Lake was pretty during a full moon...
Lissabelle: I can't wait to go back there.... It's been so long... I've missed it so much...
Cal: I bet... How long has it been?
Lissabelle: Eleven years. I was only six, but I remember it so well...
Cal did the math in his head. She was six when he was eight. He was eight when he saw that carriage rush by his face, the crying child reaching out to him, begging for rescue.
Cal: Well, now you'll be able to go back. I'm sure it's just as beautiful now as it's always been.
Lissabelle: I hope so...
Juliette: CAL!
He could hear his mother's scream for help all the way back at camp. Cal didn't even think- he just sprung to his feet, with his sword in hand and began running back towards his friends.
Cal: Stay here, Lissy. I don't want you hurt.
Lissy: But...!
Cal: Stay there!
She did so obediently, knowing he'd only do what's best for her.
He ran full-speed back to the camp, seeing commotion and chaos before him. Katie and Chloe were hiding underneath their stand, Juliette was trying to rip jewelry out of the hands of a skinny, pale, blonde woman in front of her, Michael was in a duel with a gray-eyed, tall man who kept a cynical smile on his face, and Tanya was punching a drunken idiot three times her size away from her wares. Anthony was trying to fight back an incredibly tall man with black hair and green eyes, but was getting beat, and Janette was trying to gather up all of her merchandise while most of the raiders were preoccupied.
Cal: Eric....Chase....Clara....Brad....? What are you doing...?
Jessina: Is that the Cal guy?
Chase: Yup. I'll be over there to help you with him in a minute. You're gonna need it.
Jessina: Hmph. I doubt that.
She rushed over to Cal with a confident grin and her daggers glistening in the sun
Cal: Lissy, I told you to wait by the river!
Jessina: Lissy?
She stopped for a moment, pondering about how he knew that name, but then shook her head and snapped out of it as she thrusted her knives out towards him, though he stopped them with his sword before she could make contact.
Cal: L...Lissy?
This was definately not Lissy.
