Blood dripping from my lips. It's taste is so new, but so sweet.
Delicious, yet disgusting.
Is this what dying feels like?
I look over yonder, to a boy laying far from my reach. He too, is dying.
Desperatley, I crawl over to him, perhaps out of misery.
Appalled, I gaze at his battered and bruised body. Poor thing had nothing to do with this ordeal.
I take pity on this child, so I spit blood into his mouth. He coughs, as I thought he would. He's alive, but he won't be soon.
I reach into my deepest wound. I pull from my belly a small stringy bodily part. It wriggles and wraiths almost as if it were alive.
I let it fall into the boy's mouth, along with another mouthful of blood. This time, however, I force his mouth closed.
I can hear him trying to cough, but his attempts are meaningless.
"Although, it hurts, young one, this will save you. And I will be your new mother.
From the dead I brought you, and made you with my own blood and heart. Every thump that your heart will dare beat, will forever belong to me.
You will have no father, but you will grow.
That is all that matters."
The sound of helicopter blades can be heard in the distance. They have come to meet me. They know I will be here in one of two ways:
Either dead from the struggle,
or alive and victorious, and possibly needing medical attention.
They finally arrive, and I hand them the boy, telling them, "Tend to him first."
One of my rescuers question, "Lana, Who is this boy?"
"He is my apprentice. You will tend to him first, as he is now my responsability."
That day was April 21st. I celebrate it as my birthday, as my heart was reborn that day.
-------------------------------------------~*
I've seen him grow. He is a man, now.
My son has matured. Saru is the name I gave him.
Although, naive and obedient, has he proven himself to be worthy to call himself my son.
His skill is without question. His adeptness is anything but flawed.
However, I continue to protect him as though he were still as fragile as he was that day. And I never knew why.
I found out yesterday. He was attacked. His skill was useless against this foe.
He was outnumbered, and I was not there to protect him.
When the finally called me to the hospital, he looked to me exactly as he did the night he became mine.
He was battered and bruised. Broken and bloody.
I fell to my knees crying the heaviest tears I've ever shed.
How could I let this happen to him?
What happened?
Who did it?
They will die...
in the worst of ways....
for what they have done to my son!
I asked to be let to see him. I was denied by the doctors.
His condition was too unstable. He was soon to go into surgery.
Feelings of overwhelming agony and hatred form within me.
Enraged and blinded by emotion, I race away from the hospital.
Tracking my son's attackers proves a harder task than I previously anticipate.
Eventually, I get leads to where he had been at the time right before the attack.
Speaking to the locals and listening in on many a conversation, I finally identify the Seven Attackers.
That night, I go back to see my son. He hasn't awoken yet, but the doctors and nurses say he's doing much better. My heart rests easier. The rage is slightly subdued. I slowly fall asleep by his bed, but am awakened by a nurse, telling me it's time to go home.
Instead, I get in my car and drive to the Guild Home in which I worked for the grand majority of my days.
I see the man that was once a young member, just like me. He's a man now, and runs the Guild after our old Mentor.
I explain to him the situation, and he understands completely.
Soon, a young woman walks through the doors to the Guild Home. It's late. What is she doing here. Only a pair of minutes pass, and a tall young man also walks in.
My old friend goes on to tell me that these two will help me "escort" my son's attackers to the police. The young lady has short dark blue hair, and seems to be confident, but very respectful. Name: Mayaka (Ma for short)
The young man is very quiet. Always seems to have his eyes on everything and nothing at the same time. I am wary of this one, but I can see that he has method to his actions.
I nod, and embrace my old-time friend. At that, I walk out the Guild Home doors accompanied by the two young Guild Members.
