Ninja-ing my way through Life
I wonder...
...what would happen if I wrote down how great my life was going? Down to the detail? If I was forced to blog, and that was all I had to write about? Would that be good? I don't like the concept of blogging about my life being good, because then it seems like you're bragging. But if you only write when your life is shitty then you're whining all the time. And then if you write in an apathetic manner you may as well just not bother because you've put no emotion into your writing.

These are points I would like you to ponder, then post and tell me your opinion.

You seriously have no problems? How I envy you. =P

I think blogging is something you should do when you feel the need to blog, when you feel passionate about what you are writing, when you have a point. If you feel you have nothing to blog, then don't. Write what YOU want. Its your blog, write what you feel.

If you feel the need to express how ecstatic you feel, write it.

If you feel the need to describe how crushed you feel, then write it.

Write if you seriously need to write. And if you don't, then don't. Thats the way I see it. Its a way of expression, whether your feeling is happy, sad, crushed, excited, morose, bubbly, even apathetic. People can't tell you how/when to express yourself, because you're the only one who knows HOW you're feeling and HOW to express that exact feeling.

Conclusion: Its your journal, write what you want. If people don't like it, they don't have to read it.

Wow, I really can't think of what connotational spin I should put on this. That was supposed to be funny...>_>

Write what you feel. That is why you created a blog in the first place, oui? You want to write how you felt and express yourself without hiding or lying. So, just do it.

I suppose that reality bites, for this. It seems that more people read and care when your entries focus on something negative. I think its because more emotion that involves depth is written. If you are going to write happy giggle, make is slightly deeper than "HOMG!! I met this teh hawtxxorz boi! He is lyk so ttly hot". Nobody can relate to that so therefore this is no purpose.

Maybe the real questions is: How do I propeely convey what I am feeling without going overboard?

Perhaps this may be true. Because even if I was able to put depth into what I write when happy (i tried once, Vday) I feel as if bragging almost and then all the people with problems will be pissed off when they read my journal. Now I try not to care what people think, however I don't like hurting others feelings if I can avoid it.

You are right effi, the question might just be How do I properly convey what I am feeling without going overboard?

Ultimately, blogging is to record various times and chapters of your life. Emotions are involuntary and circumstances usually are not in your control. Write what you feel. There's a difference between "Oh my GOD, like, I saw her do really bad in that presentation but when *I* went up, it was probably five minutes of applause! I love my life, and I think everything is lah dee dah perfect! Squeal!" and "I just feel extremely grateful for all I have right now. I probably don't say it enough, but I <3 you all liek woah." Er, you know what I mean.

I usually put any serious rants under a cut to spare my fellow readers a lot of emo-kid-angsty-shite. Again, for ranting, there's a difference between showing that you have a reason to be angry and just plain whining.

As they all say, "think before you act." When you're angry about something, ask yourself if this is too much of a trivial thing to write seventeen paragraphs about. Still, no one is denying you the right to express yourself when you're depressed/angry.

I, for one, appreciate happy posts as much as I'm willing to offer support for someone who posts a depressing one. Society tends to focus too much on negativity ... there's nothing wrong with just being appreciative of what you have.

I see my blog as a place to write my thoughts if I need to write them ,and as a mass-communication tool sometimes.

I don't censor my thoughts based on who might be reading, however I might put things behind a cut if I'd like to keep them private. Or I just don't write them in the first place.
