something about winter strikes fear into me.

i like to get out, weather permitting, and trek on the frozen lakes, and go hiking with my new snowshoes.

but the cold, the essence of the season, seems to threaten me.

i know about death from exposure; if i get injured while i am out alone, i will lose my body heat and die.

and just to keep the cold out of the house takes a mighty effort, with wind and subzero temperatures, it's like being attacked by wild animals.

as if nature had turned hostile and wanted my life.
