i had a beautiful euphonium
a baby tuba
with four valves
and the bell was lined with bright silvery material

i bought it; i saved my babysitiing money and my grandpa matched it, it was hugely expensive; most people just rented theirs from the school

so i was in orchestra and marching band

but after school it was unused

we have no community bands here

and you can't play solo music on it the way you could with a piano or guitar

so when i traded in my pontiac for a pickup and needed some extra cash to make the payments manageable, i sold my euphonium.


now i miss it.

isn't that silly?
