It had been some months since Zabuza's “chat” with Mei. The items continued quietly without him ever having to ask or demand for it.

It came like clockwork. Always on time. Always with what he was low on. The expectation of it all made it easier for him to have that bit of help, as it meant it was one less thing to worry about.

Because the brat still couldn't get his name right.

Ann giggled and jumped while holding at his pant leg. Zabuza sighed and picked her up. Teaching another human how to function is tiring.
Zabuza~you are such a pain
Ann~bottle?
Zabuza~You should have asked while I was still in the kitchen
There was no bite in his words to her. Just annoyance that he couldn’t even get mad at her for it. But he went to make her a bottle anyway, efficient now with how often she pats him awake at night.
Ann~thank you
Zabuza~you're welcome. i have to wean her from that bottle soon...i'm tired of the formula powder…can you finally have milk?
He shuddered at the memory of substituting milk for formula when he first ran out of the stuff. Three days of upset stomach and ungodly waste came from her bowels. He'd be lying if he said he didn't consider getting a priest.

When Ann finished her bottle, she got up and walked around. She swung the bottle around with uncaring purpose as well.
Zabuza~what do you want?
Ann~no know
Zabuza~no no?
She put more influx into her voice, making sound like a verbal shrug
Ann~no know
Zabuza~don't know? just don't go in any room you're not supposed to be in alone
Ann~kk
she went in the kitchen and got up on a chair
Zabuza~careful
Ann~i am
She hadn't picked up on his sarcasm yet. Ann just said it matter of fact
Zabuza~she can speak more now. I probably don't notice because I'm always with her...heh, I'd laugh if she starts swearing once she's five
He chuckled and Ann looked over
Ann~what funny?
Zabuza~The way you look with your bow crooked. Come here
He sat up as Ann got off the chair and ran towards him. She tripped though. Zabuza braced for her scream.
Ann~Ah ********…
He stared at her, feeling a cold sweat down his back while his cheeks flush at the same time.
Zabuza~What?
Ann ********!
She ran the rest of the way and hugged him.
Zabuza~She just barely turned three…I…
He dragged his hand down his face. Did he really swear more often than he thought he did around her?
Ann~Zabi, bow?
Zabuza~Yeah…
He fixed her bow on her head and removed the locket from around her neck. Ann ran off to the hallway, opening and closing doors just to know what's in it
Zabuza~if she figures out how to open the locket she'll ask who her parents are...don't need her to be crying about them dying..that is if auron did die...
Ann came running back and glomped him once again. He wanted to tell her to stop, but he could bring himself to do it.
Zabuza~ *sigh* ann...
Ann~yes?
Zabuza~you're exactly like my sister...
He picked her up and laid down with her again.
Ann~ *giggles* Zabi...
She clutched tighter to his shirt and yawned.
Zabiza~If things keep going like this I won't be able to let you go when it's time to leave...but at least you aren't wearing diapers anymore...
He rubbed her cheek gently and Ann soon fell asleep
