But Vadri never got the chance to help get Jak and Daxter out of prison. The Corsairs of Umbar came. How they had found out so quickly she was engaged to Boromir, the world may never know. Nor will we know how they knew that Boromir was his father's favorite son, and was, according to Denethor, the city's best defence. But nonetheless, they came.
Boromir had been showing Vadri a tour of the city, and had taken her to Osgiliath. She was immensely bored, but she had to put up with the tour, otherwise she could end up back in prison... or worse. They were sitting on the bank of the Anduin River, when out of nowhere, a single ship came up. A man jumped out and grabbed Vadri (along with her bag that was over her shoulder), and threatened to have his archers shoot Boromir and Vadri if he tried to save her.
Vadri, of course, didn't struggle to get free, finding this much more exciting than sitting in an awkward silence with Boromir, and allowed herself to get kidnapped. Boromir, outnumbered and with his fiancee's (and his) life at stake, could do nothing but watch the Corsairs sail back down the river with Vadri in their possession.
He quickly went back to Minas Tirith to inform his father of what had happened.

At Jak's trial the next day (they had decided Daxter was of little or no importance, much to his annoyance), they agreed to let him live free... as long as he saved Boromir's fiancee from the Corsairs. (Boromir was unable to go himself, having gone to Rivendell, joined the Fellowship, yadda yadda.) Faramir was to go with them, knowing the land a little better than them.
Annnnnnnnnnnd... they were off!
