My basic point is romaji is inconsistent. The more accepted method of romanizing the long 'o' sound is to either use a macron or doubling the 'o' (my text book did this) but then it's hard to differentiate between the long o's that are o-column+u and the ones that are o-column+o.

And my point was simply to tell you that you shouldn't say that "ki-yo-u" is the same thing as "ko-u", but, it's your lessons. 3nodding
