Hmm, not sure if I'm one to speak about donation items 'cuz frankly, I don't own many of them xd I have, however, been around this site long enough to have lived (vicariously) through most of them, so to speak. From the oh-so-coveted Angelic & Demonic Minis through the mostly hated Bear & Monkey PJs and to the latest, and possibly, IMO anyway, near flawless combination of the O RLY? Hat and Mythrill Armor.
"Near flawless?", you say? What I mean is that, I honestly can't see anyone, who actually enjoys designing avatars, complaining about these choices. Sure, you'll likely need 7 separate letters just to get the most "bang out of your buck" when choosing the armor to have that choice of all its possible positions but so what? Its so intricately designed compared to so many other items (including other donation items) that its definitely worth it. These two items pretty much cater to several different styles. These are what donation items should be.
As much as I love my Emo Bag, honestly, its not spectacular enough to be called a donation item. The same goes for headphones, weapons, MP3 players, etc. These things just seem too regular to have that feeling of exclusiveness. Most of the time, it feels like they were only released as donation items so that they have that 'title' of being the first of its kind. Anyway, onto the items at hand.
The O RLY? Hat, although not so much fitting my personal tastes, definitely fills the more whimsical side of things though its not limited to it. I see this being the more versatile of the two, definitely expect to see some great outfits within the month or so using this item. It'll end up being the centerpiece of many outfits to come or even help bring out other items within the outfit. And let's face it, its friggin' cute xp
The Mithrill Armor, on the other hand, while great, is quite set in its theme. I'm sure there are gonna be combinations to come that'll make a person go, "Wow, I never thought the armor could be used like that.", where it sort of blurs the line of whether it can only be used as armor or more as a design/texture of another piece of clothing or even just as an accessory. More often than not, however, it will be used as what it was made to be: Armor xp And not just a general type of armor, a more Fantasy-based/RPG style of armor. As opposed to futuristic/technological armor a la Halo, Ironman, modern day/urban style armor like flak jackets or even a more realistic medieval armor like actual chain or platemail and what have you. Personally, I find the biggest draw to this item is that finally we have a cape that isn't black xd
Both great items in their own right. If you can afford it, get 8-9 letters. 7 For the armor, 1 for the hat and another to sell 'cuz I can imagine this letter being a best seller in a few months. Of course, that would depend on how many other people are planning to profit off of these items/letters, possibly making them less valuable xp
