"Did you straighten things out with Eowyn?" Faramir asked.
"Oh, well, sort of. Pretty much. Kind of. Yeah."
It was mid to late afternoon. Faramir and Tepeu were sitting next to each other near the White Tree. Tepeu was shifting her gaze from one thing to another, but never looking at Faramir as he laughed softly at her answer. She jumped slightly when he spoke.
"Why so jumpy?" he asked. "Are you nervous?"
"Well, no," she said, "...and yes."
He moved over a little closer to her so their shoulders brushed against each other. Tepeu tensed up and withdrew slightly, but then relaxed, still not looking at him. But she knew he knew she knew he was looking at her, and it was driving her insane.
Finally, she turned and looked at him. "Why do you stare at me like that?"
"Do you not know?"
"No." That was a lie-- they both knew it was. But she wanted to hear him say it. She wanted to hear the words come from his mouth.
"Tepeu, I lo--"
He was cut off as the earth gave a violent lurch. Far off in the distance, they could hear the cries of dying orcs, and the screeches of the Nazgul as Mordor was destroyed.
"So it is done," she whispered, "they destroyed Isildur's Bane."
