To quote Shang Tsung of the ever classic Mortal Kombat Movie.

Well folks, this is MonkeyCashew, purveyer of all things interesting, unique and unusual. I begin this journal on the day of my birthday, to commemorate the ideals of old age. It is this day, on September the 12th of 2006 that I turn 23. It is an odd thing to be sure, to turn one year older, as if by a simple click it happens. As is with everything, it is but a brief moment that leads to another year of unequivocal truth.

This day, although filled with bitterness (mostly because the world mourns when I am supposed to celebrate) is not always filled with bad hate.

Many of you readers may ask, why would anyone hate their birthday? Simple. It is the day after September 11th. Everyone around you is filled with remorse and sadness for the atrocities committed and, for some unknown reason, lash out at those who are actually happy and excited, because it's their birthday.

Ahhh, but this day is not oh so bad, since there are some out there that really do not let the past overcome them with grief and they are real friends indeed.

One friend in particular, my cohort in the Web Comic Business, Dr. Fear, surprised me great with this.

Yes...A Virtual Boy. For those that do not know, the Virtual Boy was a system created by Nintendo, just before the Nintendo 64 era. It was created by Gunpei Yokoi, the creator of the Gameboy. It is sad to say that this system was a complete and utter flop for various reasons. With terrible marketing campaigns, a monochromatic system (everything is in this very vibrant laser red on screen) and a lackluster lineup of titles, things looked grim for the poor Virtual Boy. Now, it is simply a collector's item and that is why I have it. I am a collector.

I received the system and four games, all of which are in japanese (except for Mario Tennis, and Golf!), all of which are of immense fun and enjoyment. I highly suggest, for those that have never seen a Virtual Boy, to find one somewhere and try it. It is a definite experience in gaming history.

The second Gift was given to me by my brother.

For those that have never heard of Lost, it is an ABC TV series (and a spectacular one at that). The story revolves around these castaways whose plane crashed on a seemingly deserted island. As they explore the island and struggle to survive, they find numerous mysteries as to the origins of the island and it's contents. The show is a spectacular testament to great storytelling and mystery. This book I received, however, is a supplimentary piece of fiction. The book was supposedly written by one of the castaways, who had submitted the manuscript before departing on the fateful plane. It is meant to give some secrets behind the inner workings of the island in some way, I can not wait to get my hands on it!

What is left to expect is a gift card for a mysterious service, which I do not know what that may be, and the game Cooking Mama......yes.....Cooking Mama

Cooking Mama is a virtual cookbook game for the Nintendo DS. What is entrenched in the folds of this gaming goodness, is an interesting take on cooking. You use the DS' stylus to cut, chop, fry, grate and more in order to craft the perfect dish. This game serves two purposes. The first is a wonderful visual representation on how to cook specific dishes. You actually see what you need to do in order to cook. The second is to actual provide real cooking dishes and allow you to improvise to try and make the dish delicious and better. The game seems fun and exciting from what I have seen, as it is based around precision and speed. Let's hope it pans out for me.

In the end, this birthday will be full of fun and vigor, regardless of other's dim and ill-willed demeaner. Thank you for reading and I hope you continue.
