expect something really random today! as usual!
chapter twelve:

Destiny flew down the highway on her motorcycle, towards the west side of Tokyo. She knew exactly where she was going; the e-mail had even included an adress. "I just hope that the information was right" she thought, smiling slightly.
"Finally! You'll get to see him again!" part of her mind said, the happy part.
"I hope you're not too late" the other part said.
*

Annelise walked past Destiny's desk, to find her not there. "Huh? Destiny?" she said looking around.
Her computer was on stand-by, so Annelise twitched the mouse to the side and watched the screen flicker to life. There was an open e-mail on the screen, which she promptly read. Her eyes widened when she finished, and she gasped loudly, trying not to scream.
"Destiny!!" she yelled, unable to control herself.
Izuko and Yasashimi both came running. "Colfer, what's the matter?" Yasashimi asked concernedly.
"Yeah, Annelise! Why on Earth are you screaming?" Izuko asked.
"Because Destiny is gone. Gone to look for Tanoshii" she said shortly, pointing to the screen.
Both of them read the letter, and both had the same reaction she had.
"My gosh! We'd better go after her; she could get hurt!" Izuko said, looking worried.
"Of course. Give me five minutes to get everyone ready and then we'll all follow her, alright?" Yasashimi said.
They both nodded silently.
"Now you two; get going right away. Take one of the undercover cars, and follow her. We don't want you to be seen over there" he said.
"Right. Come on, Annelise" Izuko said, grabbing her hand and dragging her towards the garage.
*

Destiny ended up in front of a white, empty looking building, the top of which seemed to disappear into the clouds.
"Wow, this is where they are? How very conspicuous" she said, rolling her eyes. "But then again, I never would've guessed"
She walked up to the door, and since it was open, she walked in. Exactly the same on the inside, the hallways were deserted and white, almost like a hospital. 'It's sooooo quiet" she muttered, silence pressing with great force upon her eardrums.
Walking quietly, she came to the end of a hallway, which turned both ways, and had a door headed straight. She decided to open the door straight ahead of her, and came into a very illegal room. The walls were lined with all types of weaponry, and on a table in the middle were the concept weapons.
"Wow...this is an amazing arsenal...some of these aren't even on the market yet" she said, her eyes widening. She looked over the weapons, deciding to take one, just in case she needed it.
She chose the nano-bomb. It was just big enough to see with the unaided eye, but virtually undetectable when placed on a wall or person, and capable of blowing a herd of bull elephants to oblivion. She pocketed it, as well as it's detonater, and walked out of that room.
Destiny closed the door quietly behind her, and looked both ways down the hall before running down it.

Destiny went through several rooms without finding anything interesting, so she continued on. She found a door with a different handle than all the rest of them, and opened it cautiously. The door didn't lead to a room; it was a stairwell. With no lights, it was virtually impossible to see. But one light at the very top shone into the blackness.
"That's where I'm going" she said, smiling to herself. She started up the stairwell, the steady rythme of her boots echoing off the walls. The stairwell was drafty as well, and every little rush of air sounded like whispers.
Destiny felt as though she was surrounded, and closed her eyes, trying to block out the sound. "This is so creepy" she thought, shuddering. She opened her eyes and looked up; the light at the top didn't seem to be getting any closer.
"Keep going. Only a billion more stairs to go" she said. She stopped, however, and put her hands in her pockets. She found a penny, and dropped it off the edge, waiting for the plink at the bottom. She waited a whole minute and a half for it, but it did come. When she heard it, her eyes widened. "This place must go down forever! I didn't go up any stairs before I found these ones!" she said, continuing up.
*

Sora walked into his office, from the door that led to the stairwell.
"Well?" the mysterious girl asked.
"She's coming. I believe she's in the stairwell right now" he said, smiling smugly.
She smiled back, "Good. I've waited years for this opportunity. Finally, Destiny Migoto will be dead" she said.
"What are you going to do to her?" Sora asked curiously.
"Oh, I have something very special in mind for dear Destiny. It has revolutionized the field of torture across the galaxy. Of course it's effects are reversible, but only if you have the counter drug. I don't need the counter, so I just plan to kill her slowly and painfully" she said, smirking.
*

"Okay...only one...more story...to go" Destiny panted, completely out of breath. She looked up; the door at the top was open, revealing more white. A very bright white to her, but that was only because she was used to entirely black.
She pulled herself forward, leaning on the railing. Looking down at the spiralling stairs made her dizzy, but she refused to stop. She kept going, up only twenty more stairs before she reached the top.
When she made it to the door at the top, she fell slat on her face, smiling weakly. "That took long enough" she said, standing up and brushing herself off.
She walked down the hallway, and saw one door. It seemed a little too obvious, so she continued on. She came to the end of the hall, and saw another door. Shrugging, she opened it.
At first there seemed to be nothing there except a large blood stain in the middle of the floor. But then, she heard someone gasp loudly.
"DES?!" a familiar voice said loudly.
"Tanoshii?!" she shrieked, looking in the direction his voice had come from. Indeed it was him, looking a little worse for wear but alright.
"Oh Destiny I thought I'd never see you again!" he cried, jumping up and running over to her.
She saw the tears behind his smile, and felt like crying herself. "Tanoshii... you have no idea how much I missed you..." she said, throwing her arms around him and pulling him close.
"It's too bad we won't live long enough to spend more time together" he sighed.
She looked confused, "What do you mean?"
"I mean; they only let you know where I was so that they could kill you. They only brought you here to destroy you. I'm sorry to put you through so much trouble, Destiny" he said sadly.
"Oh..." she said softly, her face emotionless.
"Close the door, Des" he said shortly.
She did so, and turned back to him. "Why?"
"I have to tell you something very important before they figure out that you're here" he said, a very serious look on his face.
"Anything. I'm listening" she said, smiling slightly.
"Des, I figured out with the help of one of my captors that I...well I..." he stammered, blushing deeply.
"You...?" she asked.
"I love you, Destiny. And I'm so glad that I got to tell you before...you know" he said, a tear slipping down his face.
"Oh Tanoshii...I love you too. I regret not having told you earlier" she said sadly, her own eyes welling with tears. Without hesitation, she draped her arms around his shoulders and pulled him into a kiss.
Tanoshii pulled away almost instantly, choking on his own emotion.
"Tanoshii...what's the matter?" she asked concernedly.
"Destiny, I can't...I can't handle this! I know the facts; they're going to kill you and it's going to be painful! I can't stand it! I love you so much and...it kills me to know that I can't stop it!" he wailed, falling to his knees.
Destiny sat beside him, hugging him comfortingly. "Don't worry about me, Tanoshii. I'll be alright. They've tried before and they haven't gotten me yet" she said soothingly.

Destiny and Tanoshii were alone for only a few minutes before the door opened, and two people walked in.
"Aww, isn't that sweet?" the mysterious girl said, smiling falsely at the two.
They both looked up, and Tanoshii's eyes widened. "She's the one. She's the person who wants to kill you" he said.
"Ooh, I am sooo scared of her" Destiny said, rolling her eyes.
"I knew you would think you were safe" the girl said, smiling smugly.
Destiny looked confused, "You...what?" she asked.
"Yes, I knew. I know everything about you. Tell me, Destiny, do I look familiar to you?" she asked.
Destiny nodded silently, unable to place her finger on who this strange girl could be.
"That's good. I believe the last time you saw me was when you last looked into a mirror" she said.
"What do you mean?" Destiny asked, more confused than ever.
"I knew you wouldn't remember me, as I erased your memory before I left. You can't remember me. But I'll tell you who I am" she said.
"And you are...?" Destiny asked, raising her eyebrows.
"People refer to me as Abunai now. But before my ninth birthday I was refered to as Dawn Amaya Migoto" she said, "I am your twin"
"Y-you're...my...what?!" Destiny asked, her eyes wide.
"Yes, your twin" Dawn said, crossing her arms.
"Abunai? I don't believe it! My own...twin...killed my...our parents!" Destiny said astonishedly.
"Yes, I did. I tried to kill you as well, but you just had to be out, didn't you?" Dawn said, sounding annoyed.
"What do you want with me? And why did you try to kill me?" Destiny asked.
"Why? Simply because you are my twin. Our parents favoured you. It's not uncommon with twins, but this was much worse. You were their pet, I a mere outcast. They virtually ignored me. I swore to myself I'd get revenge on all of you. Including the awful scientists who thought of the DNA splicing program we were created in in the first place. By killing everyone, I'd ensure that it would never happen again. I would take over the world. You are the only thing in my way because you are exactly like me. Everything about you, excepting the fact that you are good. And you are the only person who can stop me" Dawn explained.
"That's horrible!" Destiny cried, frowning at Dawn.
"I know sweetie, but it's life" Dawn sighed.
"No! How could you just go around, killing everyone?! How could you?! You even killed our own parents!" Destiny said, her eyes wide.
"I could because they killed me inside. And I'm just that kind of person" Dawn shrugged.
"Why you little..." Destiny frowned, catching herself.
Dawn narrowed her eyes, "you don't seem to be too afraid" she said, as Destiny stood up.
"I know. I've accepted my fate. When we leave, one of us won't have a twin" Destiny said, shrugging.
Dawn raised an eyebrow, trying to think of what Destiny might be thinking of. Destiny merely stuck her hands in her pockets. "I have just one thing for you" she said, pulling her hands out of her pockets.
Everyone gasped, expecting some kind of weapon.
Destiny raised her eyebrows, opening her hands, palms facing up. "See? Nothing. What would I have? This is my only weapon" she said, pulling out her laser and dropping it on the floor. She walked over to Dawn, balling her hands into fists. For her plan to work, this had to look believeable. She pulled her hand back, punching Dawn hard in the face.
There was a sharp crack and Dawn reeled backwards, but Sora caught her. Dawn touched her nose gingerly where it had broken, and realized it was bleeding.
"Hah! That's all I wanted to do!" Destiny grinned.
"You moron!" Tanoshii yelled, as Sora reached into his pockets and pulled out a black case.
"What?!" Destiny shrieked, as Sora drew the hypodermic needle, still apparently filled with cyanide.
"No!" Destiny screamed, her eyes wider than they'd ever gone before.
"I assume you know what that is. Still, you'll be amazed at how fast it works" Dawn said, grinning evily. She sounded as though she had a cold, though, so it wasn't very menacing.
Sora pulled Tanoshii up, and stuck the needle into his neck.
Tanoshii gasped loudly, biting his lip.
"No!" Destiny repeated, much louder.
Tanoshii, realizing his time had run out, started crying quietly. "I love you" he said softly, as Sora pushed the syringe down. He collapsed onto the floor, and Destiny fell to her knees.
"No! No no no! Tanoshii! I was SO CLOSE!" she bawled.
Dawn laughed, "now it's your turn, sister" she said, ignoring Destiny's cries completely.
"No! It's not!" Destiny yelled, jumping up and running out of the room.
Dawn blinked, and growled, "Get her!"

Destiny ran down the hallway, tears streaming down her face. "I didn't think they'd do it. I didn't think. I killed him. I am so stupid" she thought. She came to the stairs, just barely stopping herself. Looking over her shouder, she saw Sora running after her.
"I've got you now, Migoto!" he said, grinning like a maniac.
Destiny looked back to the stairs. "I'm dead" she said, "He's going to get me. I am so dead" she felt a tap on her shoulder, and whirled around to see Sora right behind her.
"Gotcha" he said, smirking.
"I don't think so" he said, putting her hands on the railing.
His eyes widened as he realized what she was about to do.
She smiled, and vaulted over the railing.

Rather than screaming, Destiny kept her bearings. She searched her mind for ideas, but nothing came up. "Damn it!" she said, "This was a stupid idea!"
She stuck her hand in her pocket, pulling out the detonator for the nano-bomb, which she had planted on Dawn when she punched her. Destiny pressed the button.
For a second, nothing happened. Then, the whole building shook with the resulting explosion from above her, as she continued to fall. "Muahahahah! Now who's the only child?!" she laughed, punching the air.
She looked down, still falling, and noticed how close she was to hitting the floor. she sighed sadly, before slamming into the cement at top speed.
*

"Hmm... annoying whelp refuses to die" Dawn muttered annoyedly, as Sora ran down the hall after Destiny. Behind her, she heard a long and drawn out moan.
"What the...?" she said, whirling around.
"What...happened?" Tanoshii asked, blinking heavily.
"B-but...you just died!" Dawn said, her eyes wide.
"Did I?" he asked, raising his eyebrows.
She frowned. "Zolaaa..." she muttered bitterly. "She must've switched the cyanide with...like, water or something! Why didn't I bother to check" she thought.
"Anyhow, I'd better get going" Tanoshii said, jumping up.
"No! You have to die!" she said annoyedly.
"No, I don't. But you definately will, with that nano-bomb on your forehead" he smirked, taking off down the hallway.
"Wha...?" Dawn said, her hand flying up to her head.

Tanoshii ran down the hallway at top speed, meeting up with Sora at the stairwell.
"What the Hell?!" Sora said, his eyes wide as Dawn's had been.
"See yah on the other side, Sora!" Tanoshii said, taking the stairs five at a time. That jumping gave him just enough time to make it just past the damage line when the nano-bomb went off, blowing Sora and Dawn, not to mention the top ten floors of the building, into oblivion.
He laughed loudly, still jumping down the stairs five and six at a time. "Now to find Des" he thought, smiling.
*

Annelise and Izuko opened the door to the stairwell, just in time to be met by a figure wearing the same uniform they wore, hopping down the stairs.
"Whozzat?" Annelise asked Izuko quietly.
"Oh my...Tanoshii?!" Izuko said, his eyes wide.
Tanoshii looked up, and grinned. "Izuko! Oh man am I glad to see you!" he said, walking over to the two.
"Annelise, this is Tanoshii Yamato, Destiny's real partner. Tanoshii, this is Annelise Colfer, Destiny's tempo partner" Izuko introduced them.
"It's so great to meet you, Annelise. Now, I'm going to go" Tanoshii said, continuing to hop down the stairs.
"Where're you going, Tanoshii?" Annelise asked curiously.
"Well judging from the fact that Sora was staring down the stairs when I ran past him, I'm assuming that Destiny jumped. And that's not all that good because the stairs continue on down for another...hundred or so stories" Tanoshii explained, while jumping.
Izuko rolled his eyes, "Hold still; I'll uncuff you"
