A old man takes out a worn and beaten up hard-back notebook from his backpack an begins to write another entry into his journal.

After a few minutes he had finished writing the entry an sat still for a moment enjoying the sunlight filtering through the tree above him an light wind rustling through the tree's branches an leaves.

"You an me old one, Huh?" He spoke in a gently as if talking to a Friend.
He looked up at tree and smiled.

He sat back leaned against the tree as he drifted off to sleep. His dreams came slowly as he remembered how everything was and how he got here with his leafy Friend who had been here from nearly the beginning.

It was so long ago an they both were so much younger and had just started to grow up, his tree Friend literally. The old man remembered planting his Friend in this very spot asking for a sign that he should stay here or keep traveling deeper into the countryside of this ruined country.....the country he grew up in and that had collapsed not long after a war an political instability had wrecked what little was left standing.

So it was the day he planted his Friend tree here, making a small hole in the dark good soil an pressing the soil over the acorn that would grow into his tree Friend after a time. He had decided to stay long enough to see if he would sprout an that would be his sign to stay here long-term.

Luckily there was a small, abandoned house nearby he had scouted before planting his Friend and marking his location with a large stone beside its planting.

It was a gamble either way as his tree Friend was the last of his dry food, a lonely acorn had had gathered a few days before with many others. But the old man hoped he could find supplies in the abandoned house or at least find something to forage in the area around the house.

With that he had walked back to the small, abandoned house to see if his luck was fortunate or unfortunate.
