Shadow Dancer
She tucked her pale lavendar hair behind one ear as she crouched low to the ground. Getting caught was NOT an option. In one swift movement she crossed the hallway and was lightly sprinting down to the double wooden doors. Her flats made no noise as she slowed to a tiptoe and slipped through the opening. Once inside she heaved a sigh of relief and removed her shoes, tossing them to the side.
She had snuck out again and her older brother would have a fit if he knew. She shrugged off the knee length coat and slung it across an overstuffed chair in the corner of her room by a large bay window. She looked thoughtfully outside at the large full moon hanging over her like a shiny silver coin. She slipped out of her short lacy skirt and leotard and carefully tucked them away in the large chest at the foot of her capony bed. Every night she snuck out to dance in the courtyard, she danced then because otherwise her brother would not allow her too. She never understood why this was so she simply worked her way around it. She redressed in her night clothes and slipped her large bed ready for a good night's sleep.
Morning's light trickled into her room disturbing her peaceful sleep. She heard tisking noises and saw her maid Sandra at the fireplace across the room from her bed.
"You snuck out again, miss?" Her voice portrayed misery at the thought of being punished by being dragged into her mistress's secret. She hurriedly put away the soiled dancing shoes that Kay had left the previous night.
"Sandra, don't worry. I'm not going to get caught." Kay's lips lifted into her wide known smile. In truth, the young seventeen year old was quite the beauty. She had long whitesh lavendar hair and piercing blue eyes. Her skin was like porcelain in all its fineness. Suitors flocked to the large manor were she lived with her older brother who has taken on the daunting task of finding a suitable man for Kay.
