My left index finger is tender, throbbing, and sore. You know what that means?
That's right. I just played some acoustic guitar. XD Yeah. My left fingers (mostly my index finger 'cause I'm a beginner, and I play simple plucking things, not chords) are used to press on the frets and strings. I haven't picked up and seriously played an acoustic guitar in a while, so naturally, my fingers are going to hurt. (Then again, I haven't done much lately. XD)
So, why the guitar now? And why type with a sore finger? XD
Well, Knil and I just watched some RENT. Roger playing Musetta's Waltz inspired me. So, after watching the select RENT scenes, a brilliant idea struck me -- play some acoustic guitar! XD
Yeahyeah, I know, I'm weird.
And I'm typing with a sore finger because it's hard NOT to use your fingers in whatever you do. Especially since I'm just home doing not much.
XD So here goes.
The guitar riffs I planned to learn were the intro to You're Beautiful by James Blunt (love the song, hate the singer), the intro to This Photograph is Proof (I Know You Know) by Taking Back Sunday (Everyone else can play it! I felt left out.), and a little bit of Musetta's Waltz (because of RENT and Roger).
After that, I hop on Google and search for the intro to You're Beautiful. Easy enough finding it, but then... I needed a capo! (Capos are those clampy things that go across frets for reasons real guitarists know. I'm worse than an amateur. I just know what it is.) Soyeah. I needed a capo. Of course, I'm not a serious guitarist, so I was like "Noo... I wanted to play it. ;-;"
So, I'm complaining (loudly) about needing a capo, and Knil yells at me, telling me to find something to make my own. At this point, I just want something that'll function like a capo, so I run around the house looking for something. Then a brilliant idea hits me -- Google it.
Ahaha. n_n When in doubt, get Google out.
Then I Googled "homemade capo". Boy, was that a nice surprise. XD I ended up using a long elastic ponytail and a pencil. I postitioned that on the third fret, and I was good to go. The intro to You're Beautiful is really easy, easier than I thought. So I got it down thanks to the internet and Google. XD
Knil, all the while, is laughing (kinda) at me. That's alright, she has homework to get done. 8D So do I, but I can't focus enough to highlight five paragraphs in two books. The books were also boring. x_x
Anyway, after I got down You're Beautiful, I Googled guitar tabs to the Taking Back Sunday song. I've always liked the song This Photograph is Proof (I Know You Know). Actually, I have it playing on iTunes right now. XD Just to listen to it. I haven't heard it recently 'cause of Louder Now and whatever.
This song was easy to find, and even easier to play. XD Seriously. It's just that I need to work on my finger movement and positioning. I also played along with the song with both of the intros I just learned. That exercise proved I need a lot of work with my finger movement and positioning. >_>;
Yeah, whatever. Third and final piece for today was Musetta's Waltz. Once again, thank you Google. Musetta's Waltz is the piece Roger plays whenever he pulls out his guitar. It's a nice riff. But it's kinda hard for me to play. (It's a hella easy song, I'm just really bad at guitar. XD) Something about a lot of finger movement throws me off. A lot.
Soyeah. That's what I've done since lunch. Watch RENT then play some guitar then blog about it. XD What an existance. I really need 'smore effing hobbies.
At least this blog also had a couple of paragraphs and whatnot.

And looking back at all my Gaia Journal entries, I've realized how much I've grown as an individual and improved my typing skills. o_o;
