I’ll still be waiting
You told me to wait,
On that faithful day.
That I should not weep,
As they take you away.
You told me to wait,
In this place that I stand.
With tears in my eyes,
Women come from across the land.
As the tide comes in,
I look at my face.
Inside the swirling water,
Is a cross in its place.
Women crowd around me,
And put their hands on my dress.
I don’t know if they can hear me,
When I shout in distress.
I thought I heard,
Your voice in the wind.
But it was only a bird,
That I heard sing.
The flower in my hand,
Withered and died.
It showed how much you loved me,
That’s what you said.
I see your ship now,
My heart skips a beat.
I see you walk out of the ship,
And weep at my feet.
“Why?!”
You screamed.
You stood up and looked at my face,
Tears streamed down, your thinned out appearance.
I swear I could cry,
But the tears wouldn’t come.
All I did was look away,
I thought you loved me.
As I blinked my teary eyes,
I noticed something, as I looked up at the sky.
The sun no longer, warmed my skin,
It almost went right through me.
I looked at my hand, in disbelief,
It was transparent.
It was not relief,
That was apparent.
I looked down,
And in dismay.
I noticed the cold hard ground, and upon it,
A cross that said it was where I lay.
You told me to wait,
On that faithful day.
That I should not weep,
As they take you away.
You told me to wait,
In this place that I stand.
