Locke: The Investigative Virtuoso
User Image

xoxoThe keeper of the Guild Tavern, in charge of business matters for the Thieves as well as the one and only bartender, Locke is infamous for two things: a talent for the mandolin and a keen eye for detail. He is often aware of what is happening to whom, either through communication or observation, and he has had the distinct privilege of serving the likes of the Venancis family, Lord Armel Mor’du Cynbel, and a number of mercenaries. He keeps a respectable distance from everyone, but remains an open ear to the burdened and may even take up the role of the entertainer for those in need. Few know his true story, but rumor has it that not even his name is his own. Very often he is one of the first people to know when something is going on, much to the chagrin of others, but he holds back to see how it will play out with others. Because of this, he is rarely surprised. However, he keeps an open mind always.

Commentary:
xoxoI didn't realize I was making a bad guy until I had made him, I think. Like, the idea was there, but the Thieves' Guild fights for equality, not chaos. Alas, here he is. He made his debut in the main thread as a murderer, but in the Guild thread, he showed up with mandolin in hand. You can imagine what a huge break from the Great Mouse Detective this is.

xoxoTall, (for a mouse,) thin, vain, with a natural talent for being dreadful at the violin, Basil of Baker Street and Locke Rathbone have little in common on the surface. Locke is, as the title implies, a virtuoso on the mandolin, a similarly tiny but wildly different stringed instrument. He prides himself on being easy to connect with and isn't ruffled by much. What makes the two similar is their pride in their work and how quickly they can dissect a situation. Is it enough to effectively call him the incarnate of the Great Mouse Detective? Maybe not, but I can still think of him as inspiration, anyway.

xoxoMaybe I'm making excuses.

xoxoAnyway, I love this guy. I'll have to write more about him later.
