By the way, why are "bluebirds" called bluebirds if their bell's red and white? Why don't we just call them... I dunno... Redwhiteandbluebirds?
~
Speaking of bluebirds, in the song "Sing a song of Sixpence," how many Bluebirds were baked in a pie?
~
There are 24 Black birds in that pie, but no Blue birds.
biggrin 4 and 20
Blackbirds, precisely.
If you think about it, that's kinda racist. They don't have any "whitebirds" but they have Blackbirds. And Ravens and Crows are not considered blackbirds. what's up wit that?
Why do Ravens get more respect than Crows, anyway? They look identical!
If we just called them redwhiteandbluebirds, I think it'd cover "whitebirds." Or, better yet, let's rename the Great Egret! Yeah! Now, those are some white birds!
Also, Blackbirds is a general term for just about any blackbird. Except for Ravens, which are, by the way, bigger than crows, and have heavier beaks than crows, although they are related, both being in the jay family, which, yes, includes bluejays. Ravens actually didn't start recieving any respect for a long time, however, because they symbolized death, and weren't liked very much until recently. However, as for the crow thing, I have the feeling that crows shall soon be loved as well.
