My name is Harliquinne Davison and I am 21 years old. I have been working in radio communications professionally for 5 years. I've always had an interest in journalism and had been considering starting in internship with this company. I wasn't really sure if I would be accepted because of my lack of college education. I have not taken any college courses, nor do I have the financial means to take any at this moment in time. I have however finished high school through a home study program. My score was 98.9 on the final exam. I am also aware that many of the most sucessful news broadcasters in history either never finished highschool or never took a single college course. I feel that, despite my lack of formal education, my field experience would take up the slack. I recently met Jason Gaston at the Benefit Concert for the Faith Church of The Nazarene and was interviewed for the story. I expressed my interest in the field of journalism and he asked me to send in an application and give him a call. He told me that I had a good face and voice for journalism. I decided not to let this opportunity pass by. I've been in the spotlight all my life so I work well in Public Relations. My duties in radio included:
Secretary
Radio DJ
Live Remote Broadcasting
Interviews with Gospel Music Celebrities
Coverage of local events
Gathering information for and writing the monthly Newsletters
I'm able to type 80 words per minute and am extremely comfortable around anyone I meet. I'm not afraid to speak my mind and to ask controversial questions. I also have professional sales training and experience. Below are two of the newsletters I researched and wrote for the radio station's monthly newsletter.
January 18th, 2005
Separation of Church and State
[edited for time and content]
January 10th, 2005
Hate Crimes Against Christians.

I have also attatched a headshot for reference. I ask that you please take the time to consider this application thoroughly and give me a chance to show what I can do. I thank you for your time. Please contact Bill Davison at [edited for privacy purposes] for reference if needed. My contact information is Harliquinne Davison, [edited for privacy purposes].
Thank you once more,
Harliquinne Davison
EDIT
My application was denied. I'm not a college student therefore I dont even get a chance at trying to become a news achor. Did you know that some of the most successful news achors never even finished highschool? If someone never gave them a chance, the Brodcasting community wouldnt be what it is today. It's completely unfair that companies are biased to people with formal education over those who have had real world training and experience in the field. I'm not giving up on this.
