I discovered today that I can't really use the internet any more.
Brandark just doesn't function very well with it - frankly, it's gotten to the point where I have to take him offline before he shuts down completely.
I've got too many files on him right now for a complete wipe to be feasible - and, again, the last time I did it, nothing helped. Kept having the same problem even after my brother cleaned the slate and we started all over.
I can't do that right now. I have music files on him that I need to take off, I've got writing projects on him that I need to print.....before I get him taken apart, and we try to figure out what's wrong, I have to do some of these things, or all of my creative projects are gone. Despite all of my ranting about them, that would be....awkward....for me.
So, here we are. I have a few choices and none of them are likeable:
I buy a new computer and use Brandark when he's fixed: can't afford it.
I stop using Brandark completely and buy a new computer: can't afford it.
I buy a new computer when I can afford it, and take Brandark offline unless absolutely necessary: .....
The problem, I think, is a hardware component. That's the only reason the Microsoft keeps giving me, and I think it's a valid reason. But, I really can't do anything until I back up everything. Because, I don't want to lose anything...you see. sweatdrop
So, this is going to take a while. A few months? Maybe. A few weeks? Highly unlikely.
All of my Scan of the Week updates are going to go on a temporary "update-when-I-can" hiatus until my machinery gets back on his feet. Not that they weren't doing that anyway, but hey, at least now it's official. wink
And...I won't be on very often. Even less than I have been. School computers are an option but, as they are school computers, I don't get a lot of choices with what I can do with them. crying
Maybe I'll turn this drama into an attack of optimism and get my Japanese going again? Maybe. blaugh
