Lovers in the Garden
The moonlight was bright on the white stone of the garden paths. The night-blooming flowers wafted their scents into the air, leaves stirring as the princess moved past. Cordelia sat on the edge of the fountain, trailing her hand in the water and enjoying the slight spray on her face from the splashing flow. She looked back up at the lights in the ballroom she had just abandoned, and smiled. She much preferred being out here in the silence and stillness than being in there with all the political and social maneuvering. She smiled again when she thought of the reason she'd come - she was going to meet her lover. She heard a footstep behind her and turned expectantly, face bright. "You came!"
