Malachi, though he greatly prefers going by Kye, is 17 years old, but he looks and acts much older. Most wouldn't guess he was still in high school. Kye, not knowing his dad, grew to be incredibly close with his mom but the strain of trying to support an almost college-aged kid and her desire to find love again - even if it's just on the party scene - caused her to snap, making Kye's home life a living hell. While she isn't necessarily abusive, she constantly screams and throws things in his general direction. But that aside, it's much more upsetting for him to see her so mentally destroyed than it is to handle the insults. As a result, he tends to spend most of his time outside of school wandering the streets. He is often mistaken for a prostitute and will generally turn down the majority of requests he receives, however, if his proposed partner for that night looks like he or she greatly needs it for comfort or some semblance of happiness, he'll be willing to oblige slightly. He likes making people happy, since he failed to do so for his mom.Kye's wise beyond his years, but he still has his moments where he acts like a kid. He's a good student but loves to just go out and have fun. Ultimately, he wants to return to his younger years and spend all that great time with his mom again, but he knows it's a long shot. He loves just being able to be with someone, to take care of someone and make them happy.
